Village friends, the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir in Wonogiri Regency was inaugurated by President Soeharto on November 17 1981. The process of building the reservoir which is 6 kilometers to the southwest of Wonogiri City began in 1974. This reservoir is one of four large reservoirs built in Bengawan Solo project. This project was carried out to control the damaging properties of the Bengawan Solo river water and make it more useful. To build the reservoir, no less than 51 villages were submerged and more than 13,000 families were relocated because their land and rice fields were flooded by the dam water. Most of them transmigrated to West Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu and South Sumatra.
After ancient tombs appeared when the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir (WGM) in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java, dried up, now traces of a settlement can also be seen.
The former settlement that appeared when the WGM receded was Betal Village. This village is one of the villages in Nguntoronadi District. Betal Village was submerged in floodwater from the reservoir following the WGM construction project. It appears that the village now known as Betal Lawas was left with ruins of buildings when the WGM dried up. The Betal Lawas area is included in the Tenggar Hamlet area, Gebang Village, Nguntoronadi.

klo di waduk jatibarang semarang gk terlalu luas, dulunya hutan, kedalaman dalem banget soalnya ditengah-tengah waduk dulunya ada tower sutet kabel listrik
