A few years ago, I was introduced to John Prine after looking up the lyrics at the start of this video. What a talent. RIP John.
I had been a Prine fan since I was younger cuz of my dad but i remember I heard Angel from Montgomery by Susan Tedeschi in high school (she was new then) and i realized how far his influence and talent spread and that he was a real true poet. ALWAYS wanted to see him live. Like I LOVED him like a favorite uncle, you know. The night he died I was not feeling well and had laid down, my husband came in and said "I have to tell you something that's gonna hurt" and he didn't even have to say...since we'd been watching for news after the announcement he was ill I knew once the elderly had to be intubated for covid their chances were not good...and yes it hurt.
One of the best bands I've heard in a long time.
Can't get enough of these guys.

Also was lucky to see them live before Katie left at Thalia Hall in Chicago. One of the best shows I’ve been to ever. They’re still great, but it’s hard not to feel that something truly special was lost. Such is the way of things, I guess.

Saw them live at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ last Saturday, they killed it! Love this band! Everyone contributes vocally, I really love Katies voice but Matt's is very unique too. Keep creating cool songs like these two! #houndmouthrules #houndmouthrocks #jerseyloveshoundmouth

These guys played at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival last week (June 2016) with two sax players and a new keyboardist. Dynamite show! I am more of a bluegrass guy than rock and roller, but this band almost stole the show.
