Early morning walk in the streets of Znojmo in the south-east of Czech Republic

Our fourth project is an early morning walk in the streets of the city of Znojmo. It is the historical and cultural centre of southwestern Moravia and its city centre is a protected urban monument reservation. Its traces are reaching as far as 1055 a.d. and it is a truly remarkable mixture of forms and shapes adhering to various periods and styles in both art and architecture. We are most intrigued by the way it sits on the top of a steep hill above the river valley. It is a magnificent location with long distance views to several sides. The streets themselves are an array of textures, color tones and details. Some of the houses have such a patina picked up over centuries. Interestingly there is also a well preserved example of city fortifications. In the far distance we can see the Louka Monastery which is almost as old as the city and is a major wine location in the wine-rich region. Enjoy the early morning walk with us.
