I don't think there's any doubt that after a year of Good Good Labs videos, I'll pretty much be tour ready.
Wouldn't that be sweet...
I, indeed, doubt.
@@jordanalexander7705 bro its a joke

well???
Was actually on the range today and thought about commenting about a take-away/tempo video, as my takeaway gets quick. Thanks so much for reading my mind.
Bryson would argue otherwise but in general yeah it's better to have a smooth takeaway
Grant, I’m 57 and been golfing for about 15 years and still learning...this particular lab expertly explains how to fix one of my major issues...I used this on the course today by saying “gather” out loud to myself at the top of my swing and even though I knew I should pause a beat, the way you showed this helped me immensely...that little pause helped my tempo smooth out and gather for a more consistent shot...everyone has a “quick fix” but with some practice this particular lesson smoothed out my swing and created better tempo...thank you
Bubbie always catching strays from the boys, he doesn’t deserve it 😂😂😂😂
Especially from Matt. Tig, Grant and Micah, maybe. But def not Matt
@@Quadfather2016 Tig and Micah lmao
@@neematootoonchi1365 sorry, meant Garrett obviously
That was not a stray lmao that was right on target, unlike bubbies drives ok ok ill stop lol
I always thought Matt's swing was so cool to watch. Always has great tempo.
Matt's comment about the golf swing being simple really drives it home. CZcams is a fantastic place to help teach and tweak yourself to get better but there is so much information out there that it can become polluted and if you start doing everything you see to try and fix a simple issue, you're going to make it worse on yourself. I had that exact problem. I started just working one thing a week and getting a lesson every Saturday and my game is getting pure. Love the content, Grant!!
Steven is a great example of this. Since working with Grant, Stevens take away has slowed down noticeably but his swing is much more consistent! If I lived in the states I would be looking to hire Grant as a coach!!
your right elbow position is great i am 57 as well and just learning again after a 30 year break good stuff your vids are always qualty content.
I've found that breathing in on my backswing and out on the down swing has helped tremendously in syncing my body up. Especially with the brief hold on the down swing which I time with my exhale.
That's a good one. I usually try to take a deep breath before starting my backswing, then as I exhale, I perform my entire swing. But your suggestion sounds really good.
Love this guys! Would love a video on lag and maybe shallowing out the club!
I think it is important to mention the weight of the the golf club. To feel the end end of golf club in order to make a smooth backswing with a firm grip pressure. Don’t squeeze too hard or you won’t be able to feel the weight of the club and get a smooth swing. Feel the weight so you can whip it the best and not try to force the club as Grant mentioned in the video. Feeling for the weight of the club has helped me become more consistent at making a golf swing with good tempo.
Good stuff. I like to gradually move to the front foot as the club is still moving back on the way to the top. At top, I like to be 50/50 on pressure, then roughly 75 percent pressure on the lead foot at left arm parallel on the downswing.
A smooth transition literally took me from shooting low 90's to high 70's...I had to put in the work on the range, but night and day within a few weeks. Must also say I was already a great putter and above average around the greens. But it's been so important for me
That "pause that refreshes" at the top, before starting down is critical, a 1/4 of a beat is plenty. Also, I think a lot of beginners haven't learned yet to make a golf swing rather than a golf hit. The hit reflex is very powerful and can really mess you up if you're not aware you're giving in to urge to "hit". Be as committed to the half of the swing after the ball as you are the half leading up to the ball.
another thing to consider is that normally that pause at the top is not actually something you do. like
backswing-stop-downswing.. its a natural pause that happens while your shifting weight but haven't started dropping that trail arm.
the reason of pause at the top is, as Garrett pointed out in his video, and also I pretty much agree, is to relieve/ease any unwanted tension you have during the backswing. I think that is the reason for many people that a pause is necessary for a consistent ball strike.
@@3spressoShot this is correct imo. Golf is 1 athletic motion. Probably good to think of it that way (same way you would if you were a pitcher).
Having said that, whatever drills these good good kids did growing up obviously worked. Almost all of em have great tempo. It’s good to watch before a round.
Yes!!! Much needed! Thanks guys!
Great video! Tempo is Grant’s thing.
Here for the "Do Not Jerk it ❌" jokes.
Also I'd pay infinite monies for Grant's tempo/swing.
Grant is tempo city. Best I’ve seen almost ever it’s so good.
I have enjoyed your videos and this one is the best in helping with my tempo.
Formally requesting a video for feels of sequencing. Love the channels. GG labs is amazing!
The reason you want to gather is to make sure your swing path doesn't adjust at the top. That is my biggest fault with my swing. When I get to the top I naturally want to come down different than what I came up which in my case results in a fade or slice... Great video and content for free! Cant thank you enough.. Would love to play golf with you guys sometime ... maybe in another life
I golf with a group of guys and I use your name to illustrate tempo. The quote is " ok, give me a smooth Grant swing"
You have awesome tempo!
Grant's tempo is absolutely insane. Buttery smooth, absolutely perfect
Great video guys! Love it!
Grant has got to be one of the best teachers! I bet your father is proud
Thanks for this boys, been watching a few of these and have seen results on the course. Got a friends Turney in Bandon Dunes coming up. I’ll let you know if these tips translate to comp. On that note, y’all should make a trip to Bandon Dunes
I love Fred Couples. He’s the GOAT
Is no one going to comment on Grantasaurus Rex’s super buttery gorgeous tempo swing?!? Always thought he had the smoothest swing, love watching him play. I’ll stop now.
no one saying it bc we all know he has the nicest swing. that’s why he’s the teacher
This guy explains this so well it’s insane
some tour players use word clues for tempo work- i was taught “lem en ade” years ago, one two three, back swing is “lem en” then slight pause, then come out of the crouch down swing “ade.” growing up in NC may have had something to do with the phrase choice. good video guys
Literally no one:
Matt: HIGH deki

Just threw bubby under the bus with the quickness. 🤣
I hope you know you are one of the top best instructors in golf
Count during your swing in your head and say "one and the two". The "and the" part is your gather moment and is very important.
how far back should your backswing be? does it change for every person or is there a standard?
Super super awesome video 👍🏽
Always motivates me to golf 👍
I lol'd in real life when Matt roasted Bubbie! 😂
Very good video guys!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I NEED THIS !!!1
Good stuff. I think most hackers are way too late shifting their weight to their left side. A lot of good golfers will tell you they start that weight transfer before they even reach the top of the back swing. Gotta avoid swaying. Those three guys have great weight transfer.
Ya boys!!! This I need.
Buttery Good Good. MMMMMMM MY FAV !!!
Awesome video
On my practice swings before taking my shot is easy and smooth. But when I hit my shot I am trying to kill it swinging eay too hard. Hard habit to break.
How do I get my club face square? My face is currently open
Good Lab. Thanks Grant.

great content. Getting a slow-mo camera would definitely take you content to the next level!
“Holy wind!!” 💨 …sheeesh!!
Hi guys, can you link the good good labs on the good good team links
I have a tendency to get my body in front of the ball on the downswing. Any tips for staying behind it?
From someone who has done that in the past I can say what helps me: at the top of the swing I think about keeping my back to the target just a split second longer. This allows me time to get my weight shift started and have a good brace with my left side before I start my upper body. When I do this it helps dropping the club right in the slot and rotating through; I nail it!
When you talk about weight transition more towards the lead foot, how should the knee move and what’s a good cue for that transition?
I think, when you starts your downswing with a hip turn, it's very natural to shift your weight to the lead foot. Without a golf club in your hand, you can even try it at a home. With a golf stance, do a backswing, your weight should be shifted to your back foot; then turn your hip to initiate your downswing, your lead foot will feel some pressure. However, it is not necessary to shift your weight to your lead foot. You see some people steps back after hit a good shot, which means they didn't really shift their weight.
@@kidsgotsomeskills ahh I see what you mean! Thank you!
Grant is a tempo god
Would love to see bubbie work on this. That boy can smack the ball!
when i think about tempo i think its gonna make me swing slower meaning hit it not as far (when i do hit it good). is this true?
No not at all! it’s just the same as baseball most home runs are hit at 80% of the hardest swing. Often times in golf an 80 percent swing will go just as far an 100% often with more control.
And even if you lose 5 yards per club but you’re hitting more greens and being closer to the pin then it seems like a good trade off.
Thangs four fixin thee tittle
Its funny with tempo. I,play a regular flex shaft bc of my,swing, speed but with my tempo I would be using a stiff shaft. My take away is fast and almost no pause into the down swing once I get to the top. If I can fix it ocne day my regular flex would work,so muh better
Good tempo and rhythm is about not over accelerating the club from the top.
Tempo also saves your body from aches… that’s they key to playing stress free.
Mentally tough to do as well, trying to make up for distance or keep up with someone makes me think I have to swing hard and fast when it’s just not my game.
My biggest struggle! When my tempo is good I shot in the 70s, when it sucks im shooting in the 80-90s! Great drill and thoughts!
DAMN…why you call Bubby out like that?!😂😂😂
Matt dude freakin hilarious! 🤣
After this video I am joining LIV :)
You recording in the middle of a hurricane? Was that inspired by when its breezy, swing easy ? :D
I like that shirt grant winter drop?
lol poor Bubbie.
Can you do a video on getting spin on your shots? You all have so much spin and I can never get it. Also, how many yards would you say you lose when you open the club face……on average
Video idea: Golf etiquette. Watch where you stand, properly fixing divots and ball marks, driving carts 90 degrees on fairway. Etc.
Video 749 of commenting for Good Good to go back to Pursell Farms
This is my #1 problem. I get quick, lose all my lag, and hit it 20 yards shorter. Especially when there is wind like in this video.
I went to doing a 1,2,3 swing and that helped a lot. 1 back, 2 drop the arms below the path, and 3 have at it. Feels more a circle than a straight back and pull through. That not only helped my rhythm, but stopped the occasional over the top swing.
Me too. Sometimes my adrenaline gets pumping and I want to get back to the ball quickly. That’s never good for me
How many times did grant say tempo
I think Morikawa has the best tempo on tour to learn from. Very slow in comparison to other pros but is very controlled in his swing. People learning the game see guys like Bryson and want to swing out of their shoes but he’s the 1% of guys that can do this. In my opinion the best tempo is where you can feel and control and be conscious of the motions you are making.
As far as aesthetics, he’s just a little too slow for me
@@nate_feag8044 I get that, I just think its the best to learn from. I believe Collin is the best iron player today because of this. He is very aware about every factor through his whole swing. I play with a faster tempo than him as do the majority of people, but especially for most golfers the main problem in the swing is keeping the club face square to the target at impact. If you start with a slower more controlled swing as a beginner I think it will help a lot with club face control has your swing speed and tempo start to increase.
@@Wallacea98 I normally always hit better shots when I slow down my backswing as well
I think you all could do an instructional on using soap, and I would watch it. 😆 I am grateful you're golfers though ⛳
Y’all are always coming after bubbie 🤣🤣
How about a lab on the proper release .
DO ONE WITH “WHAT DOES SWEEPING THE CLUB MEAN”
matts right the golf swing can be simple all these different instructors is just because everyone has a different way of thinking.. the technical guys, the feel guys. all of em are explaining the same shit in different ways. its the one that clicks for you that you have to follow... i mean don't get me wrong maybe they are not teaching the exact same swing.. but the base of the golf swing is all the same.
Poor bubby, needs to go to the lab more often
To me this is more about rhythm, whereas tempo is more about the the speed/pace of the swing (with or without good rhythm). Rory has a fast tempo (and good rhythm)
That being said, I thought it was a really good/important video!
I think this would have been better labeled how to improve your sequence! Because everyone has different speeds that they swing but proper sequence always makes it look better to the eye! Also the drill Matt is using makes no sense if your just pausing not doing anything yes the club should stay up but if your going to do that drill you should be landing left and then starting to rotate while you feel the club is still at the top of the backswing
I think Zac Radford has wonderful tempo. Wish you guys would do more vids with him.
bubbyyyy
lol
DO NOT JERK IT, noted
how can he hit it so slow but still goes spr far
I didn't know Matthew McConaughey son was a golf coach.
3:31 dont jerk it!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Damn, tempo comes from joints not our body muscles. Light bulb moment
Don’t jerk It error made me spit lol
DO NOT JERK IT! lol
Freddie is so silky. He is tempo.
I guess you’ll be using kwon for these videos instead of Tig now
I played this video at x1.5 speed.
Please don’t call it a buttery tempo 😂
Matt shouldn’t trash bubbie.
Guys pls do not jerk it trust Grant labs
geez....If it is blowing 40 mph put off the shoot and put out a quality product. I am not talking about Grant I am referring to the distraction of the wind noise. Grant is a great teacher and deserves quality production to compliment his instruction.
ATTENTION!!! FROM GOOD GOOD LABS!!! DO! NOT! JERK! IT! NO JERKY JERKY!!!
"Do Not Jerk It" in the middle of November...
