Good point about the sizing. Element to element side by side the shorter perries are very noticeable, but when you pushed the 2 units back the size didn't really stand out..
The Old Wargamer Yeah the look great on the battlefield together just not in the same unit. I’ll definitely be getting more of each and maybe just keep them in their own brigades. I’ll maybe mix some of the heads around between the 2 to add a bit of variety
Thank you for the interesting comparison! By the way, the 'ei' in 'Leibfahne' is spoken like the 'i' in 'ride'. 'Leib' means 'body' and sometimes it was used in a way similar to the modern 'personal'. So a 'Leib-Regiment' was the personal regiment of a monarch, a 'Leib-Kompanie' the personal company of the regiments commander and the 'Leibfahne' the flag of the 'Leib-Kompanie'.
Nice job painting these up and seeing the victrix/Perry comparison was REALLY useful. Austrian Grenadier did have flags in the Napoleon period, but not during 7 Years War. Can't remember when this changed but certainly by the Revolutionary era.
Two fantastic looking units there Leon, excellent stuff! That sheer amount of white would give me chest pains if I had to paint it but you've done a cracking job on them :)
Well, the way i look at it is humans come in all sizes. I can see perry and vitrix mixed in my mind in the same unit for variety. Love em. Will probably do these guys after my french and british. Nice job on these guys as usual.
Mary Hinge Thanks Jim. It’s debated wether or not the Landwehr had the same flags or made their own. Nobody makes any other flags so mine will get the yellow ones I think.
I snip corners off Victrix bases when you get a base issue. They look really good Leon. I always use metal command if I can but do utilise some plastic command.
granapriego Yes I do that with the Victrix. The plastic bases can be a bit big. I’d use more metal commands as well if I could. Just can’t afford them at the minute lol. Will definitely think about getting some though to add variety
Leon T66 yes variety is the main reason but also 6 metal command can free up more figures. Because of the metals i can squeeze 4 battalions out of the Perry and Victrix French box. It is grenadiers and volts that are the problems. Yes I know all about budget problems I have saved up since January for my recent splurges. Buying wrong things does not help either although I have been able to use them.

I like them as well. Just for the variety, I would deff. Collect both brands. I am planning ondoing some 1813 Prussian LW for my Forge & Brush - I don't do Napoleonics in 28 for my own collection. Great work, Leon. ~Fritz
A Dash of Élan - GM's Alcove Yeah I can’t pick a winner out of the 2 brands. I’m wanting to do AWI in 15mm as next years big project. Thinking Blue Moon figures..??
Blue Moon are excellent figures. They are more toward the 18mm scale, so you get lots of detail. They are my first choice whenever I want to do anything in 15/18mm. ~Fritz
Personally, I like your Victrix figs a smidge better, especially the facial hair. However, if I had both, I’d mix and intersperse them together. People aren’t the same size and height. Your painting skills far exceed my own! Also, I would like the chaotic look of a variety of poses together which look good while in line engaged in combat. Battlegrounds are not parade grounds. I’ve never bought any 28mm figs but Perry’s look like they can be assembled in a good variety of poses from what I’ve seen elsewhere. Never seen Victrix sprues. Anyway, that’s my 2 nickel’s-worth! Again, very nice job! They look sharp!
Thanks Buddy. The Victrix kit gives you a few options for different poses for the minis. The Perry’s are all in marching pose. I have a couple of battalions where I’ve mixed them up and they do work well together. One day I might actually get round to finishing this army lol.
These look fantastic. I’ve got both Perry and Victrix, they’re both excellent and with Victrix they have that great Grenadier box set with the bearskins. I feel the same about Grenadiers and flags - in the AWI The Grenadiers were all converged from other regiments so they didn’t have the flags with them. I did a unit, looks a bit odd without.
Lee Hughes Thanks mate. I’ll be putting a flag on my Grenadiers. As you say I think it’ll look odd without one. Think I’d paint up a command stand for yours if it was me. Although the historical Nazi’s won’t like it 😂😂😂 No doubt I’ll get some negative feedback when I post pics of mine up on Facepalm when they’re finished.
I have actually seen command packs for Grenadiers so obviously some manufacturers can see the need for them. Old Glory do a pack of Grenadiers with command, same with Light Infantry as they were used the same way in the AWI. I usually do things in whatever way I like the look of, knowing whether or not it’s historically correct is good enough.
+Lee Hughes Yep that’s kind of my thoughts on it as well. I do try for historical accuracy but if it’s not quite perfect it doesn’t bother me to much and Flags make units look very much nicer. Still looking at Blue Moon AWI. I’ve so nearly hit the buy button so many times now lol.

Matthew Dobbs Thanks mate. Yeah they’re both really nice figures. Try “Flags of War”. I get all my flags from him. Much cheaper than GMB and just as good

I’ve found they’re all pretty much the same scale so you can mix them with each other and get lots of variety. I’m not over keen on the British Victrix line infantry but all the rest of the Victrix are pretty good. I find the Perry faces a bit flat and can be a challenge to paint. I don’t have a big preference except to say, I like all my guys in marching pose so I tend to go for warlord most of the time.
I started painting napoleonic miniatures for a diorama and bought the Perrys. Judging by the comparision you show there is not much difference between those and the Victrix. I assume I could use both of them for a diorama right? Whats your opinion on it?
You can definitely use both. They match up really well together. I’m currently painting up a brigade of Victrix and have just finished a brigade of Perry’s
