Charles: What a coup, that the owners turned all this over to you, who loves and appreciates history so much!---Imagine the size of the occupants over the ages...you only fit in a few of those rooms (and how tall are you?!)---The folks in some of those original portraits have a decidely Spanish look to them, I think! What do YOU think?!

You should know better Charlie. Charles I was King of Scotland (born in Scotland) England and Ireland. Have you any idea how insulting it is to listen to "experts" such yourself completely disregarding the Scottish Crown. There's more Scottish blood coursing through the veins of our Royal family than there is English. In fact the English are subservient to a Queen of Scottish and German descent. Still doesn't make it easier listening to people using terms such as "Queen of England" though.
Gosh a man after my own heart ! I live in France and the stories of misattribuation are boundless ! During the Falklands war I would phone the TV producers in Paris every day to ask that the head journalist would stop saying 'English army' and say British Army, every day !! Of when people would write 'English Nationality' instead of British etc. When the French would reply ' its all the same' I would ask them if they thought that they were Belgian, same language and they would say ' OH NO WE ARE FRENCH' and I would say OH NO I AM SCOTTISH, see what it feels like. Or when famous Scottish actors were written up as 'British' and English actors as English ,, and so on ,, One day at the post office the girl asked me to write England on the package I was sending to Scotland ! I asked her why and she said because Scotland is in England !! The French have an excuse, the English do not ,,, and I won't get into 'the Queen of England' thing !! I'm from the highlands and the Queen would dock in our town then leave it in a minute without setting foot in the place ,,, but that docking would cost us a fortune in cleaning and fake shop fronts and painting the piles of coal in the dock WHITE ! and red carpet on the walkway ! Christ gets me mad .
