In 2008 on Pi Day this building shielded thousands of lives from a passing tornado overhead. What’s even crazier is if an Alabama player hadn’t hit a buzzer-beating 3-point game-tying shot less than 5 minutes before the tornado, forcing overtime, hundreds or thousands of people would’ve been exposed on the street instead of safely inside the dome.
Granted he never won an NFC title and a Super Bowl berth....Matty Ice did! In fact Vick only had TWO winning seasons his entire time as a Falcon and they werent even back to back: 2002 9-6-1 & 2004 11-5. Yeah, well never know what 2003 could've been bc he broke his leg, but that's nit Matt's fault. lol And don't get ne wrong, I was just as much of a Vick fan than anyone, but he wasn't the cerebral QB Matt was, and Vick even admitted it years later after her did time.
I remember seeing them implode the RCA dome in Indy and that brought tears out of me. Lucas oil stadium is great, but the RCA dome was back when the colts were goated. with peyton manning, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison, Dwight freeney, edgerin James, etc. not to mention the fiberglass roof fascinated me and I'm sad that fiberglass roofs are a thing of the past. I mean sure there's complications...such as the disaster that happened with the Metrodome in Minneapolis, but they were so unique
I feel you man. Nothing good has happened to us since the Benz was built. The falcons have never made the playoffs, the saints are 5-1 against us in there, and Alabama has had more success than the falcons.
I went to my first monster jam event with dirt here in 2016, and never broke the streak of going every time monster jam came to Atlanta. R.I.P Georgia Dome thank you for all the memories you gave me
Do you really want to have a Stadium known for: 1. Looking like a giant anus 2. Hosting the worst Super Bowl in history 3. Only good game to come out of it was the MLS cup
@@TheAtlantaCapybara it's the best looking stadium in the league, it has the best visuals, best roof, best exterior, and best scoreboard As a Giants fan the falcons are lucky to have an amazing place to play
I never had the chance to go to the stadium and sadly I won’t I know it will be missed and has brought so many memories especially College Football and the SEC. May it RIP and be home with the Lord.
I’m a Saints fan, but the Georgia Dome was the first NFL stadium that I have been to. I went to go watch the 2005 Chick-fil-A peach bowl. LSU routed Miami 40-3.
I play there for a HS playoff game back on HS. I caught a 9 route on the sideline. We lost. And a grew up right across the street. The dome gave me good memories.
My first GA Dome game was Auburn-Virginia in 2011, my last ever was Cam Newton and the Panthers vs the Falcons the same year Carolina went to the Super Bowl. Goodbye big girl. 😢
Many SEC basketball memories there. I was even there at the time when a tornado went right over the top of it and tore a hole in the roof. What a waste, it will be missed
How did those flimsy little fences stop debris from hitting the benz Also anyone know what they're going to do with the space? Are they going to turn it into a parking lot?
old and outdated so it became obsolete. also wasn't fit to hold future Super Bowls. the Mercedes stadium next to it is its replacement with more modern facilities
Why was lights flashing and flickering at the beginning why did that happen I want to say goodbye 2 the stadium I have never been there plus I live in Arizona not I can't live in Atlanta because it's too far away and why why did I say Atlanta I wonder didn't I say it whatever I say I will complete
I lost my first phone here in 2006... I finally have closure
Binge-Worthy it's in a better place. 😂😂😂😂😂

One of those moments in sports where a player saved thousands of lives that day. That story is one that no one can forget. Both weather and sports.
Thx for the memories dome 🤧
Sohail Tube yeah 😢
Lord knows it couldn’t have been closed out better regardless of what followed
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 RIP Ga Dome...... Thanks for everything. Tell the OMNI I said Hello in staduim heaven.

Mike Councill oh yeah, I forgot good call.
At least the Falcons last game in this dome was a win that took them to the Super Bowl (despite of course what happened after)
What do you mean? They cancelled the Super Bowl that year and absolutely nothing else happened.
I went to my first football game there. R.I.P

Things Falcons blew...
1. Their old stadium
2. 25 points lead
Michael Fang that’s so wrong but very savage!
Lol
How dare you
Owo
FYI buddy, the patriots had the refs favoring them, so it's not like it was a fair game anyways.
Well at least we got the mercedes benz STADIUM

Our city was so different five years ago smh I hate it here now
I have heard how the new stadium is really bad in comparison to the Dome. Is it true? If so, how so?
@@user-ym9dz5uy2v no it’s not bad our true fans just can’t afford the seats. The tickets are over priced

I personally like our city, but I wan hear your opinion, why do you hate it here?
