    Great stuff man. I've got a 4.0 Type-A coming in the mail today. Can't wait to try it out!

      Thanks, man! If I had a 4.0 I’d go with the type A too. Let me know how your build goes!

    I'm a little late to this game but I am truly enjoying your SOMA Wolverine vids. I have the Type 1 Wolverine in Storm Blue. I have had it for almost a year now and I use it mostly as a commuter as some roads over here in my area are poorly maintained and there are some off road sections that I must pass through. I probably have almost 1000 miles on it I am finding it to be every bit the rugged bike you have described. I'll shut up and keep watching. Maybe some conversation about our bikes can be had later.

      Ed, my friend, you’re not late. You’re right on time! I’ll have a ton of more videos on the Wolverine. I love how versatile it is. I’ve gotten a bit behind because my studio is my garage and it’s about 15° out there now. Any time you want to talk about bikes, Wolverine or otherwise, I’m up for it! Thanks for watching!

      @@GreatEgretAdventure That is AWESOME, my Friend. Great to see your reply here on the CZcamss. Yes, very much looking forward to more of your Vids and MORE discussion with you and other Wolverine riders. My apologies for NOT catching the episode where you talk about where you live but if it's anywhere near where you film your rides, then it must Nice out there but Yeah, I'll bet it is COLD right now. I live in the Southern California Desert and I'm proud to Brag that we have the Best Winters in America here but we also have the Hottest Summers. Honestly, you probably wouldn't want to be here during July and August. Anyway, Talk to you soon.

    I can't decide between a Canyon Grilz 2XL or a Wolverine 66cm. AL frame of the Grizl is quite massive and I wonder if it would be the same weight as that of the Soma ? For the Canyon , I dislike the non standard 1.25 steerer tube and his PF bb . Many plus for the Soma : standard BB , sliding drop-out , confortable steel frame , ...but his weight ? Thks

      Man, I’m gonna be biased on this one. The Wovie is the most versatile fun to ride bike I’ve ever built. You can turn it into nearly anything you want.

      @@GreatEgretAdventure I know it can be converted to anything, I already have a custom steel 65cm marinoni and find it comfortable yes but heavy and limited for tire clearance . Wonder if the Soma could handle Conti Travel Contact 700x47 ( not only wide but side wall pretty tall too )

      @cabaneencac5168 I have 50mm Gravel Kings on mine. If you set the sliding dropouts right, your 47s will fit just fine.

    Big BB drop makes this bike stable when descending 13% grade rough gravel roads. No need to ride the brakes like I do with my high BB CX bike.

    I've been dithering over whether to buy one or not. Stuck between the V. 4A and B, but leaning towards the B. Did you have to do any frame prep before installing the bottom bracket? Why did you choose that particular fork (vice carbon fiber)?

    • @GreatEgretAdventure
      @GreatEgretAdventure  Před 3 lety

      I really like the changes on the V4. I built a V2 in 2016 and this V3 and on both the The stack height was a touch too short on those bikes and that why you see a lot of builds with a ridiculous number of spacers on the fork tube. So the longer head tube on the V4 is welcomed. If I were to differentiate the V4 A and B in simple terms it would be saying A=modern and B= old school.
      The v2 I had faced and chased at my LBS. I was thrilled with the work they’d done. For this V3, I took it in to be faced and chased and one of the mechanics told me it didn’t need it. I tried to convince him that it did, but he wasn’t willing to do the work. I regret that. While most new frames don’t require it, I feel Soma frames do. COVID lockdown started just as I started this build, so the facing and chasing never got done. The only other prep I did was spray the frame and fork with frame saver. The fork choice is embarrassingly because I wanted a thru-axle fork that color matched. I should have gone with a carbon fork.
      I’m converting this Wolverine to a belt driven single speed soon and I’ll have a new build this spring with a Bearclaw Thunderhawk. That bike will definitely have a carbon fork.
      Thanks for watching. Let me know which Wolverine frame you get.

      Thanks for the quick answer. since I'm a tinkerer, I like the idea of changing it over to belt driven at some point, but for now I'll just go with a derailleur system. The videography is outstanding on your videos, as is your explanations of thought process! Enjoy the bike and new build this spring.

      I’m the same way with tinkering. Thanks, Sabergo. I work hard on these videos, so that means a ton to me!

      Yeah, I'm looking at a used V2 now, but am worried about the reach. I have very long legs and and a short torso, and worry that I'll be too stretched out.

    • @GreatEgretAdventure
      @GreatEgretAdventure  Před 2 lety

      I’d go with the V4 if you can swing it, Jase. That short stack height was my least favorite part of the frame.
