    when the pressure in pipe is greater than that of the static head from reservoir, the water flows out of the pipe, which is indicated by the -ve velocity; does that means there is a flow separation/creation of vacuum takes place at the location of valve? kindly explain.

    What about the negative pressure wave. And how to calculate it's velocity?

    • @EngineeringTrainer
      @EngineeringTrainer  Před rokem

      Hi there,
      As long as cavitation doesn't occur as part of the negative pressure, the negative pressure wave (expansion wave) behaves similarly as positive pressure waves (compression waves). Except for the minus sign of course.

    What about pressure variation at the centre of the pipe

    • @EngineeringTrainer
      @EngineeringTrainer  Před rokem

      Hi Tony, thanks for asking. This approach presented here considers the pipe as a 1-dimensional element and assumed the pressure is constant over the entire cross-sectional inner area of the pipe.
