The biggest pleasant surprise from this video from my perspective - The TVS Eurogrip tyres on Aprilia RS457 have done better on the racetrack than the Metzeler M5 (H rated) on KTM RC 390. This is a huge achievement for the India based tyre manufacturer! There used to be a time when we nicknamed Eurogrip tyres as Euroslip tyres as they performed very badly on the early editions of Pulsar 200NS. From that, if TVS has reached a phase where it is beating Metzeler tyres on track, then that is a big deal, no doubt!

Btw, I have Gixxer SF 250 with the stock MRF Revz C1. Could you please suggest a good replacement? I was thinking of Michelin Road 5. Should I go for something else incase of availability issues.

Don't just R3 based on R15... ironically R15 is a better buy than R3...

Yes, even the grab rail brakes easily and is made of very flimsy plastic on r15
RS 457 is definitely an exciting launch. Looking for more such bikes under 5 lacs, with more than 50 PS power
Now in this segment everyone gives a A2 license compliant motorcycles. So more than 47 Ps in not allowed

The Aprilia is just better in every way, looks way way better, faster, better handling, componentry and electronics. 2 years ago I was in the market for a sports bike in this segment and I had to buy something else cause apart from RC and Apache there were no options (neither appealed to me), such a pity as I want the aprilia now 😢

Same! Wish Aprillia had come 1.5 years sooner. But I'm not crying (that much). Btw congrats on the 300r! I was torn between the Duke390 and the CB300r, and went with the 390. Having a blast tho

imo, if you are on tight budget & want affordable/predictable aftersales experience then Rc390 is the one to go for
but if one has extra ~1.2L of budget upfront, and is equipped to deal with expensive/nonpredictable aftersales experience then that Rs457 is the bomb! :*

Well summarized, however Aprilia is worth the risk given its made in india tag...lower spares cost...and can be repaired by non authorized but good mechanics
rs is 90k more expensive not 1.2 lakh atleast where i live maybe diffrent in other cities
I just wanted to hear that "worth the extra bucks for that exhaust alone" cause I was in love with the sound once the rev reaches 4k 5k rpm and the pull with it feels like a proper superbike at that moment
If KTM didn't shelve it's 500cc project, it would have a very strong contender to the RS 457.
Nic one bro… iam waiting for so long for double cylinder ktm bike under 650cc engine… if they launch one then there will be no other bike can come close to that…now i cant wait for ktm to do this..but i know they will launch a bike with this character soon.❤🔥

Hi Autocar India, I'd just like to confirm if you're sure about the groud clearance of the RS being 150? Some CZcamsr mentioned it being 120, source being the sales rep of the showroom in his city. Have you measured tue ground clearance yourself?
Was the brake fade bad?
Autocar if we zoom in your videos the text banners got cut, if we don't zoom then the display seems very small🤦♂️

Aprilia has the 160 section tyre in rear but you mentioned it is 150 ??
Haven't heard the 457's exhaust in flesh- but if someone says that it sounds the same as the RS660, then you'd be sold on the exhaust note. The RS660 despite being a twin sounds veryyyyy similar to its elder V4 sibling. A good aftermarket exhaust on the 457 could further elevate that sound and give you the feel of an RSV4. That alone is worth its price- everything else is a bonus and it wins absolutely at everything. I love KTMs, but the quirky design is not to my liking (next to an Aprilia I can call it straight ugly) and so is the inconsistent fueling at the bottom end and the engine/ exhaust sound. Biking enthusiasts are in for a real treat.

One question though... doesn't Bajaj also use the Perimeter frame on the newer pulsar NS series bikes?? I don't think Aprilia is the only one making it locally...

the rs457's beauty gets even more highlighted in front of the ktm ...looks so much better than the ktm it looks fast while standing still .....design and sound alone should be deciding factors to get the aprilia ... only gripe with the aprilia is the skinny front tyre which doesnt go well with the big front end ... rest its a baby rsv4

High level of admiration for Aprillia. Their first attempt is so good. Just like it’s elder sibling it has got everything.
That bigger 399cc engine on the Duke must come soon on the RC. Gap will be closer🎉🎉
Aprillia just made a beginner bike which will last long in the coming years and will cater to many bike ethusiats. Hope they keep bike services, pricing and customer support in check and continuosly fine tune this motorcycle in the coming years

Bro u forget something r15, r3, r6, r1m are the top league bikes that hold best best record..... But becoz of yamahas internals we are getting this overprice products from yamahas... And even if you go full on racing on tracks r3 is still shining in front of these two bikes.... But here is where price come....

The Aprilia will be more refined and balanced machine particularly with that frame and power plant they stuffed inside, However you get what you pay for i guess. Bang for buck the KTM with a few mods is decent enough for a trackday. I just wish they had a twin cylinder a posed to a single thumper.
...Aprilia should also have been launched with a link type rear mono shock for ultimate handling.😢😢
As a Gen2 RC 390 owner. I'm saying this, the Aprilia is a one up on the RC in EVERY WAY except brakes and tyres. But once those are upgraded. The Aprilia is just a better bike. But I still wouldn't trade my RC for it cause it's just that. An amazing machine.
I am also a gen 2 rc 390 owner, I would gladly trade mine for rs 457 :D

This is like a click bait . It would have been better had Autocar waited out a little for the new generation KTM and then made the comparison.
Aprilia is better in terms of power...no doubt about it....lets see how it turns out to be in terms of build and reliability.....seen lot of Aprilia owners in west complaining about the reliability....but RC will be the best bike in single cylinder 400 cc market....

do you know the rs457 has the same front disc which aprillia used in their 2015 pre year RSV4 BIKE.CRAZY.AND EVEN MORE CRAZY IS THAT IT HAS THE SAME ECU AS THE RSV4.MAD BRO.
KTM is a wonderful bike, a true pocket rocket but its reputation has taken a lot of damage in India. Aprilla entering the market with a price just a lac above the RC will definitely take over this segment

Ktm RC 390 is value for money bike here.
Aprillia major drawback is back after sales service. Also parts availability is a big question mark meanwhile KTM has all the setted up service centers

No need of 120 section motoGP tyres on this machines. Moto3 uses 100 section tyres.
