I could be wrong, but I believe Baylor was at the time the first SWC team (and possibly the first school from a major FBS conference) to be shut out in conference play and still win the league outright.

Penn State won this game, 41-20. It was their llnd Cotton Bowl classic appearance in 4 seasons. Just 3 seasons prior (1971) N'ttny Lions beat Univ., Tex.'s L'nghrns, 30-6

Penn State trailed 7-3 at halftime, this game, but in llnd half they outscored Baylor, 38-13

Season later (1975) Penn State was in 3-0 hole against Univ., Ala. in XLIInd Sugar Bowl classic at halftime. They'd lose to 'Bama in that game, 13-6
