First and most important, it's so cool to see regular Japanese people cutting loose after a long day, showing how they're cool people just like anywhere else. There's none of the sanitized 'everything is perfect' image sold by youtubers and tourist sites. Second is getting to just listen to everyday Japanese being spoken, especially by guys. I'm only starting to try to learn, but.can alteady hear how stiff book language sounds, and most teaching sounds more feminine. Actually hearing the way guys talk to each other may seem like a small thing, but as an adult dude it'd be silly for me to sound like a high school girl when I'm just trying to communicate.
I can't stand the people that make Japan out to be a heavenly wonderland. Japan has so many problems and while it may be super cool to see it from an outside perspective the people living in Japan face plenty of harsh realities of life that everyone else does. I see too many USA people (mostly weebs) make Japan out to be way more than what it is. I love seeing Japanese people show how everyone is human no matter what country you live in. I would love to have a fun night getting drunk out of my ass with all of them.
I like that you show the "real" people's Japan as opposed to the "perfect" manicured, travel brochure, Japan that you get from most other sources. You sometimes get a glimpse in some movies but more often you get story archetypes and stereotypes. And even with CZcamsrs, they mostly like to show the touristy, stereotypical stuff. Or are outsiders themselves so they get the sanitized version of the places they visit. Good luck on your journey, brother! I think good things are coming your way.

I used to work in a bar just like that, in Shibuya. Long time ago! Our mama-san kept things a bit more civilised though, no drinking for us girls and the karaoke was at least usually less wild. And it was themed as an English conversation bar, with Swedish girls for the conversation (yes we were all fluent in English) 😁. Sweet memories. Learned to love Japan there ❤
Apparently Japanese drunk are no different than American drunk. 🤣 Fun to see how different the bar is. In America you will be fired and perhaps arrested if you are drinking on the job.
depends on the bar. I used to drink with my bartender very regularly. The prettier ones would have to fake taking shots because so many would get bought for them. I like a drunk bartender that likes me. I'd often end up with free drinks lol

Lived in a squatted house too, and ate scraps, dumpster dived. Fast forward more than a decade and I'm in a much better place in life right now. Stay Safe. I am Foreigner that married Japanese Young Lady and had japanese Daughter born in Kugayama and lived in Setagayu. Due to past history of of employment with my government and certain knowledge of their crimes we became hounded and harassed and due to the stress one day came home to find my wife and new born daughter gone. After a month or so ended up living on Kanagawa river because I could not get a rental without japanese guarantor or alot of money to pay company to sign for me. I worked and boss offered after 2 months to give me new job that included accommodation but left Japan. It was hard living out on the Tamagawa River. FREEZING! Stay warm this winter.
I've backpacked through places and this brings back memories when you sleep in odd places out of necessity and budget but also adventure! Curious to see where your path leads you :)
