Last year was our first year using Biblioplan. I used Remember the Days with my 5th and 6th graders. My 9th graders used Consider the Years and they loved it. I love that we all covered the same time frame, but my older girls loved going deeper.
We are using Medieval next. I wish the had Consider the Years ready for that level. The companion is huge!

Sonlight's Election Lapbook/Unit Study! Highly recommend! Did it with my kids last election cycle! It's worth the money, and it's all you need all in one box! Pre-printed too!

You are SO FUNNY, without even trying to be funny. 😂 I hope your humor has helped you get through "stuff".... God bless you and your family this school year, Toni!!!! ❣❣❣

We’ve loved the high school book for Biblioplan! It has so much interesting info. I have read Remember the Days to everyone and then my high schoolers read theirs independently. That way we’re all on the same page and we can discuss, but the older kids can dive deeper. It seems a little redundant, but it has worked so well for us.

Also love the Sonlight election lap book, it is pricy, but totally worth the price!!!! It covers so much more than anything I could have put together!

I’m so excited to see this video! You’re homeschooling next year!! 🙌🏼🎉
Okay lots to comment on 😀
I’m very excited to homeschool. We homeschooled up until two years ago and then moved near a great private school and put my boys in that for two years. But hubby is finally FULLY onboard with homeschooling so we’re back!
Our boys are in 1st, 5th and 7th.
Group will be: morning time ( The Ology, memory verses, etc.)
Biblioplan (totally got this idea from you from previous video) Ancient times
While the other subjects are not group they will be doing same subjects at same time. Like everyone will be reading, everyone will be doing math etc.
I wanted to group science by my older two have totally different likes so 7th grader will do robotics and 5th is doing an Outschool live physics class. Plus I got him a textbook to dive deeper. We’re doing science once a week only 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m also trying not to cram too much into the day. It’s hard when there are so many great things to learn and so little time! 😂
Ohh! The memorizing thing! I’m *just* getting back into memorizing verses. Let me tell you that the Bible memory app has helped me so much!! Highly recommend. Not that your kids need it, but they also have a kids version of the app. I may use that to help my kids in the Fall.
    Happy homeschooling 😊

Love your choices 😊 We’re simplifying our homeschool this year to allow time for all the fun stuff. With 2 teens I’m heading back to work and want to keep our schedule flexible. Seasons change as they age and independence is so important in high school ❤

4 years ago, I read my kids the What Is the Presidential Election book. It was so informative and interesting. I felt that I learned from it as well. They have a 2024 updated edition on Amazon too!

We did an election unit study right before school ended in May. I wasn’t happy what I found and I ended piecing a couple of them together and added to it.

I’ve never heard of Biblioplan so thank you for mentioning them. I’m going to look into it. We will be starting history with Gather Round mini unit study Government. You can buy the books or print them. It’s not completely about elections but it does have a chapter on presidential elections.

Sonlight has a free Elections Unit Study!!! Also, for your youngest, I would recommend the book Duck for President by Doreen Cronin. It would serve as a really cute intro into the topic!!!!

I’m looking for the same with the election unit study. My kids have shown a lot of interest in it this time and have been asking questions too. The best option I’ve come across so far is the Sonlight lap book. It’s not really exactly what I had in mind but it’s the closest I have been able to find. I’m kinda surprised at the lack of options in this area when there are SO many curriculum creators!

I'm following a secular plan, can you tell me how in depth the Biblical and Church portions of Ancients and Medieval are? Or can you do the History portion and skip the Biblical portion? I really like the info I've seen on the general studies for the history portion, but wasn't sure. Thanks!

I wish you would have came out with this video earlier. Even if it was a brain dump video. I was wrestling with the decision to skip the Middle Ages ( we have the same feelings) in history and go to Modern Times. I just kept feeling the homeschool guilt of not “going in order”. We use Biblioplan and I added in Take Time for Art to make it more exciting. My 6th grader already has her queen gown and we will do archery. Prayerfully this will be our first and last time through the Middle Ages.

      @ourthriftyhomeschool  Před měsícem

The Lesson plans plus is the new version of the family guide...which is a book full of helps for all levels in the particular history year you choose. You won't need a lesson plans plus book for each grade...just one for the whole family! I hope that helps!

Homeschool in the woods is a PDF but it’s good. It’s not terrible to print out. It’s more lapbook style but also comes with all the info.
We are also gonna read The Kid who Ran for President and got a little literature unit off of TPT. But again, you have to print it. But all of that together, I think my kids will get a great overview. Oh, and my youngest will read Duck for President.
