  • "And you there every night to come home to..." Aww, I really love this.
Ok, so this is not a Burke-Cristina scene. But this scene is just so moving, it brought tears to my eyes, and I can't help but share it with the world. Really, really amazingly BEAUTIFUL scene. I love Kate Burton and James Pickens.

This is the last scene that Ellis is lucid in. I feel sorry for Meredith because the last time they spoke while she was lucid they were fighting and when she tries to reconcile with her mother, her lucidity is gone.

she didnt know how to interact with Meredith, that was the point in the episode, to show what their relationship was like before. Ellis was a piece of work.

@@gammaraygus That was a brave answer, Gemma. I respect that. Me too; I gather many of us who’ve lived through immense pain or loss all have our what ifs - the possible happy endings we imagine may bring us to a better place in this very moment in time.
I believe it’s always good to have hope of brighter days, it keeps us going. And, should we persevere, one or more of those happy endings can still be realised. Perhaps with different people ~ ones who’ve supported the journey, who appreciate dark nights of the soul & cherish the quality/value of a human being within. This scene is so sad and so wonderful in the same time. Meredith's life would be so different if Richard chose Ellis instead of Adele. Mer would have had a father growing up, a mom who will be there not the cold Ellis without feelings and a couple of siblings.

She wasn't cold with Richard, tho. She was firm but not cold. She had evident warmth for Richard (and, to a point, her patients).I think she was naturally not very maternal but it was compounded by the fact that she never really loved Thatcher ... and because Richard kept on using Meredith as the excuse of why they could not be together.

It wasnt out of duty tho. His heart broke when Adele died, he loved her the most. He would've always chosen Adele, he loved Ellis too but not like Adele. His jealousy towards Elli's professional success was stronger than his love towards her. Ellis having a kid was only an excuse for him to bail on her without telling her the truth that he loved his wife more.

This is somewhat off-topic, but it’s scary and heartbreaking to see the effects of Alzheimer’s. What’s even worse is the waves of lucidity that suddenly come on- the person becomes totally aware of what’s going on and might even have some understanding of their situation.
TV shows dramatize things a lot, but if you’ve witnessed a loved one live with it- this can be pretty accurate. It’s one of the few diseases on this earth that you can truly call tragic and hopeless.

Ellis should have never died! Too bad Derek's plan for treating Alzheimer's had never been blacklisted and that he had tried to find a cure before meeting Meredith, and that Ellis was one of the candidates on the trial and that it worked-- Alzheimer's completely gone... Then... She could have had the rest of her life with Richard... Maybe they could have gotten married?! And he finally chose her over Adele?! 💔💔💔

+Chrissy Brown Ellis and Webber was a dam good story and I think that shonda wasted what I though was great as a story line killing Ellis off was stupid all that material that could have been done with those two and also I would have wrote it where Burke and Hahn had a sexual relationship at John Hopkins that went bad because of them both being so competitors trying to be first in the class and that why they respectively dislike each other and she also should have gotten Isaiah and Sandra to comeback and do a two-part episode to show what it would have been like if Burke and yang had went down the aisle In season three and later on she gave Burke a child those storylines are three I would've love to have seen

Even though it’s just a show, it’s so damn real. Women in general put way too much of their heart into the idea of finding that “happily ever after” with a man. When in reality it’s really not the amazing fantasy it’s made out to be. Love your children. Love your career. Love your mom. Never love a man more than those 3. Ever. You can love a man....but you can’t love a man more than the others in your life or you will end up unhappy in the long run.
I spent a decade with a man who I truly loved. Then we divorced and now I’m truly happier than ever because I found myself. A woman will never truly find herself and become whole if she shares her heart with a man
(or woman 🙄). Women can’t do both. You either love your kids and your self...or you love a man. And men are not the right choice. Ellis Grey chose a man over her life and her daughter. Look how she turned out. Dying alone and pathetic. This is a show. But this is the reality for so many women in real life.

Alzheimer’s is incredibly strange.. lucidity comes and goes in waves. You can remember things altogether or only partially.
My grandmother didn’t recognize her family and couldn’t tell you where she lived.. one night she woke up at 2am to wish me a happy birthday. She hadn’t known my name for three years by this point, but woke out of her sleep knowing my name, that I was her grandson, and that it was my 20th birthday. The next morning, she knew nothing around her again. It’s equally fascinating and tragic.

She had wanted to be extraordinary for so long which made her miss out on so much joy and happiness then years later when it’s too late she realized that she should have chosen a different path - be a mom to Meredith, marry Richard and have kids with him, and be chief in residence. She placed too much of an emphasis on her work instead of also focusing on other things and people. It just shows you to never rule out anything out
