  • In September 1948, Isaiah Nixon was shot and killed because he voted in the Democratic primary in Montgomery County, Georgia. Soon after he was buried, his wife and six children moved away in fear and his grave was lost to time. His burial place remained missing for 67 years until Emory University students began studying the case as part of Georgia Civil Rights Cold Cases Project: coldcases.emory.edu/
