How do you train your attention and stop your mind from wandering?
Maintaining your attention and focus in a world filled with distractions can be very difficult. The constant disruption of notifications can start to feel like you don’t have ownership over your own mind. But solutions like avoiding technology for periods of time rely on external intervention rather than giving you control over your ability to concentrate.
To go in-depth on this topic, I’m thrilled to have Dr. Amishi Jha on the show today. Dr. Jha is a neuroscientist and professor of psychology at the University of Miami.
She’s also the author of the bestselling book, "Peak Mind: Find Your Focus, Own Your Attention, Invest 12 Minutes a Day." Packed with over fifteen years of research, her book gives you practical steps on how to use mindfulness training to regain your ability to be present in any situation - in only 12 minutes a day.
Technology is a necessity in the modern world. Instead of removing access to digital devices, you can train your attention to be distraction-proof. Listen in, as Dr. Jha gives you actionable steps to start training your focus, notice where your attention is at any given time, and learn how to redirect to get back on track.

I am a professional musician. Years ago my dear friend who is also an amazing performer and musician said he loves music because you can only focus on the note you are playing and the next note is coming but what has passed , be it a mistake or distraction, is gone. You are truly in the moment experiencing life music and the magic unfolding❤️

Check out Sacrotropin, pair it with huperzine a, open your mind to spirtuality, sit cross legged, literally focus your eyes together, forgo what you think you currently want , and focus on whats next to you and around you - breathe (and repeat). Your concept of time will immediately change, your focus becomes unlimited, and your control over your memory and attention will finally be yours.

I find managing internal distraction to be the most difficult task. Some of them by the way are goal related, but happen to take you sideways.
Also a question on distraction. I find some of it very useful. When thing over the task, looking for an idea, distraction might be helpful. Takes the unwanted pressure of the brain, while it is in process of finding the solution. So how to tell the difference between one and the other?
maybe in this case using other definition: "Changing acrivity(?)" is a good idea
Once again thank you for the helpful tips.

Amish does loads of interviews and she covers different queries as she is being interviewed. I'm sure she addressed that a t one point. Maybe asking yourself (once you notice that there are conflicting goals) which one is your priority. We can get side tracked and hyper focus and miss the bit picture. That's where the 'floodlight' practice helps

as more of Right-Brain person, I always and constantly have to deal with being absent-minded caused by constant imagination and creativity. I'm trying to balance it with meditation which is also a challenge for me because during the practice, imagination kicks in. 😂😅
