Thank you for this video. My ancestors came from Rheinland-Pfalz and Luxembourg and I will follow your instructions on my research.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed. I want to know more about folklore in Baden. My city of Karlsruhe is only 300 years old. But what came before? So exciting.

Thanks for sharing! This was super interesting + helpful. I'm from the US and my family is German; it's been fun to look into German folk magic to inform my own practice even though my family is Christian (I'm the only pagan witch in the fam lol) it's really helpful to watch your vids! My family has its roots in several regions across Germany mostly Rhineland-Palatinate & the Spreewald area (Sorbs) but were also part of an interesting ethnic group who emigrated to the Ukraine during Princess Catherine's rule and they made their way to the US via Odessa and have their own niche set of folk traditions and dialect. I've been researching to see if I can find a way to get German citizenship through my great-grandparents, but it's a shot in the dark lol.

That's a fascinating family history! Good luck with getting the citizenship!

I really appreciate your channel and all the time you take to create your videos. It's so hard to trace some of my German lines, but I know the general regions they came from, and when you talk about those areas it helps me feel connected and helps me understand some of what my family members would have experienced.

Getting flashbacks from sitting in the archives late at night desperately trying to understand the sütterlin of a random unnamed teacher from decades ago trying to tell me why a naughty boy stole random artefacts from a grave and why he didn’t want to give them back💀

very interesting and there were alot of tips and ways to research that are new to me (most research that I have done in past was local library/university libraries reading the books and photo copies from archives) and I keep forgetting about the google translate --- need to makes a note on that 😂 thank you for sharing

I really needed these tips to help learn more about my ancestry. My family and I have struggled to gather info past my great grandparents. The only line that has been remotely followable is the German family, and all we got was some names and a small village that took months to locate. While watching this video I was able to find a whole new list of info on the region. Thank you so much!
