Great explanation! I've recently been given a diagnosis of ET JAK2 Positive. My platelet count is currently 460. I'm prescribed asperin & having my bloods monitored every 3 months. I'm having little headaches now & again & itchy skin at times.

Wow... Glad I found this. It really explains it better. My platelets where at 1.3 million, they're down to just under 700,000 now with two hydroxyurea a day. But my family doctor is just now getting ready to have my spleen ultrasound because my left side has HURT for several years and she'd been dismissing it as 'gas'. Not real sure they can do anything to make it stop hurting but at least when people are looking at me funny I wont have to say, "it's just gas"....lol

I was diagnosed with this in 2005, back then there was very little information about it, this video is great. For ten years I have taken a cardio aspirin a day and get my blood tested every two months. My platelet count was pretty stable (always under 1,000) until this May when for some unexplained reason it shot up to 1,682 and white cells increased to 18. The tingling burning in my fingers and toes got quite painful. I moved on to two aspirins a day plus two Litalir capsules and after a few weeks it's down to 650 and white cells at 13. I had a marrow biopsy and all good there. Would love to know why the platelets suddenly shot up so much.
