These are inexpensive grills, not worth it to replace parts and restore. Plus the ash plate is a bad design, upgraded models with the ash bin are more convenient and safer.

Another way to remove the gunk without damaging or scratching any of the enamel is to use a Steamer with the scotch-Brite attachment, without almost any pressure the steam will melt\dissolve most of the gunk\grease within seconds and the Scotch-Brite helps with any stubborn gunk. You'll be done in half the time or faster using a steamer...

Great video! I just restored my Weber Smokey Mountain smoker. It was even worse than yours. I didn’t realize that it was full of water just sitting in it for 6 months or more. I had to cut the bolts out of it and replaced them all with stainless steel. Replaced the dampers, the straps that hold the water pan and grates, and replaced all three grates. To get the rust out of the bottom and top bowls I used a non-toxic product called Evapo-Rust from Harbor Freight. The rust was really bad, but with some serious elbow grease it worked very well. Like you I used high heat Rustoleum. Looks as good as yours! I enjoyed your video!

Worst bbq I ever owned. Never again.

This video inspired me to buy an old Weber for $20. So far spend $90 on replacement parts and cleaning supplies. $40 cheaper than buying brand new I guess I’ll use it to buy meat!

How much did all the cleaning products and new parts cost I would think for just a little bit more money you could've just bought a brand new one

Awesome. Some advice for the youngsters: When buying a grill, you simply cannot beat a Weber for value. You just can't. They're the best bang for buck. But.... It's 100% worth it to pony up the extra simoleons to get the bigger, nicer model. The finish on them is stellar. Much nicer and tougher. My upgrade has been out without a cover for ages and still looks great, while my old cheapie is rusting in the scrap heap, looking just like this wreck. Now I might have to restore it...

something enjoyable about restoring something to new. I'd have opted for the gloss high temp paint but that's a subjective choice. Looks good and most important going to cook good. Enjoy.

Used the same degresser on my smoker and it turned the inside silver!

After a few decades of reliable service, my 22 in Weber showed it's age. Wheels replaced twice, crumbling handles, and yep, the damper rusted stuck

Them tires have got another 50,000 miles on them rock ‘n’ roll

  • @Lezperado

I love this shit man! I've started to collect old ones around my community to restore and resell at a cheaper price so that everyone has the opportunity to grill. These things surely aren't cheap and way too much ends up in our already overflowing landfills. Great video! Liked and subbed

"We gotta fill up the tank and get the gasoline". lol 😁😁😁I love the way you edit and do your time progressions. Looks really good and clean.

Always better to restore than to just toss it out. Last year, I did a cleanup on my Dad's Red Weber Kettle from the mid-1960s. It's back in service! I'd forgotten how hot those old-school metal handles get.

Way to go countering the throw-away culture 👍🏻 Love the beer too, I tried it for the first time a couple months ago - the best! Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
