    Just got my Horus Heresy box today and want to paint Imperial Fists for the first time, this is a super useful tutorial, thank you 🙏
    Wasn't sure where to start, the standard Eavy Metal 40k marine style doesn't look like a good fit for these minis.
    Not tried oil washes before but will definitely it a go 👍

    Great video as always. I highly doubt I will play space marines in the new Horus Heresy (Primaris Sculpts are too good) but fingers crossed they make rules for some of the other factions that according to lore were around in 30K like Eldar, Orks, Demons etc.

    Hi Richard, first, thanks for making all these fantastic videos! Much appreciated, love your painting style and presentation. Video description mentions Balor Brown being used, but either I've missed it somewhere or perhaps it's human error? Watched the video a few times and can't tell if that colour is used. Ta for taking time to read comment! Happy painting.

    Great vid. Do you think it would be feasible to add the sand before the oil wash and use that to dirty it up instead of a seperate acrylic wash?

  • @Jason-gq8fo
    @Jason-gq8fo Před 2 lety

    I normally use enamel washes, do you have to gloss varnish to get a good use out of the oils? I know that it means you can move around the oils more but is it essential? I don’t like using gloss varnish on metals or adding extra steps. And could you matte varnish over an oil wash with a brush? I don’t have an airbrush

    • @demonrich
      @demonrich  Před 2 lety +1

      At the moment I am using either Badger (Stynelrez) Ultimate Primer or Scale 75 Surface Primer. The Scale 75 one is very matt, so you have to be a bit careful not to get a texture buildup.

    @demonrich Do you have any experience with W&N water-mixable oils? I have some and have used them with odourless mineral spirits on terrain pieces which seemed to work, but I'm a bit worried that they would behave differently than regular oils.
