Raag Soohee, The Word Of Shaykh Fareed Jee: ਤਪਿ ਤਪਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਮਰੋਰਉ ॥ तपि तपि लुहि लुहि हाथ मरोरउ ॥ Ŧap ṯap luhi luhi hāth marora▫o. Burning and burning, writhing in pain, I wring my hands. ਬਾਵਲਿ ਹੋਈ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਲੋਰਉ ॥ बावलि होई सो सहु लोरउ ॥ Bāval ho▫ī so saho lora▫o. I have gone insane, seeking my Husband Lord. ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਰੋਸੁ ॥ तै सहि मन महि कीआ रोसु ॥ Ŧai sėh man mėh kī▫ā ros. O my Husband Lord, You are angry with me in Your Mind. ਮੁਝੁ ਅਵਗਨ ਸਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੋਸੁ ॥੧॥ मुझु अवगन सह नाही दोसु ॥१॥ Mujẖ avgan sah nāhī ḏos. ||1|| The fault is with me, and not with my Husband Lord. ||1|| ਤੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ तै साहिब की मै सार न जानी ॥ Ŧai sāhib kī mai sār na jānī. O my Lord and Master, I do not know Your excellence and worth. ਜੋਬਨੁ ਖੋਇ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जोबनु खोइ पाछै पछुतानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Joban kẖo▫e pācẖẖai pacẖẖuṯānī. ||1|| rahā▫o. Having wasted my youth, now I come to regret and repent. ||1||Pause|| ਕਾਲੀ ਕੋਇਲ ਤੂ ਕਿਤ ਗੁਨ ਕਾਲੀ ॥ काली कोइल तू कित गुन काली ॥ Kālī ko▫il ṯū kiṯ gun kālī. O black bird, what qualities have made you black? ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਬਿਰਹੈ ਜਾਲੀ ॥ अपने प्रीतम के हउ बिरहै जाली ॥ Apne parīṯam ke ha▫o birhai jālī. I have been burnt by separation from my Beloved". ਪਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ पिरहि बिहून कतहि सुखु पाए ॥ Pirėh bihūn kaṯėh sukẖ pā▫e. Without her Husband Lord, how can the soul-bride ever find peace? ਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥ जा होइ क्रिपालु ता प्रभू मिलाए ॥२॥ Jā ho▫e kirpāl ṯā parabẖū milā▫e. ||2|| When He becomes merciful, then God unites us with Himself. ||2|| ਵਿਧਣ ਖੂਹੀ ਮੁੰਧ ਇਕੇਲੀ ॥ विधण खूही मुंध इकेली ॥ viḏẖaṇ kẖūhī munḏẖ ikelī. The lonely soul-bride suffers in the pit of the world. ਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ॥ ना को साथी ना को बेली ॥ Nā ko sāthī nā ko belī. She has no companions, and no friends. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲੀ ॥ करि किरपा प्रभि साधसंगि मेली ॥ Kar kirpā parabẖ sāḏẖsang melī. In His Mercy, God has united me with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਲਹੁ ਬੇਲੀ ॥੩॥ जा फिरि देखा ता मेरा अलहु बेली ॥३॥ Jā fir ḏekẖā ṯā merā alhu belī. ||3|| And when I look again, then I find God as my Helper. ||3|| ਵਾਟ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਖਰੀ ਉਡੀਣੀ ॥ वाट हमारी खरी उडीणी ॥ vāt hamārī kẖarī udīṇī. The path upon which I must walk is very depressing. ਖੰਨਿਅਹੁ ਤਿਖੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਈਣੀ ॥ खंनिअहु तिखी बहुतु पिईणी ॥ Kẖanni▫ahu ṯikẖī bahuṯ pi▫īṇī. It is sharper than a two-edged sword, and very narrow. ਉਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੈ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ उसु ऊपरि है मारगु मेरा ॥ Us ūpar hai mārag merā. That is where my path lies. ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥ सेख फरीदा पंथु सम्हारि सवेरा ॥४॥१॥ Sekẖ Farīḏā panth samĥār saverā. ||4||1|| O Shaykh Fareed, think of that path early on. ||4||1||
Ba-Kamaal, bahut khoob! I can listen to Prof. ji' s rendition of Sheikh Fareed ji's Shabad in Raag Suhi again and again, each time I experience the same Anand-e-Bani. Feels like Sheikh Fareed ji is singing through Prof. Baldev Singh.
Principal Ji is a pride to the Sikh keertan trdition .He was one of the leaned keertania of Sikh Panth . It is still a hard job to copy him . He could touch the depth of the most sensitive SUR . He specialized in singing the most Bikhdi ਬਿਖੜੀ ਤਾਲਾਂ ! I recommend the present Ragi’s to follow The Ragi’s like Pricipal Sahib
