  • VINNIE PAUL & KYLE SANDERS interviewed by BARBARA CASERTA for LINEA ROCK, while relaxing on their nightliner outside Alcatraz, Milano, on March 12th 2017. It was the first show of the tour and Vinnie’s birthday (53) the night before in Switzerland, so apparently they needed a rest after an all-night-long-wild-party… HELLYEAH were in town opening the show for KORN and HEAVEN SHALL BURN, in a great great night of metal! They discuss how for them “brotherhood” fits better than supergroup definition despite they all have a huge past and fame (PANTERA, MUDVAYNE, NOTHINGFACE, DAMAGEPLAN, BLOODSIMPLE). It’s a matter of vibe, friendship and respect… different roles but anyone fits in the family puzzle! They talk about moody, dark and crushing “UNDENIABLE” (their last album and best so far) composed while jamming as a unit, and valorised by precious recording sessions with KEVIN CHURKO (Foo Fighters, Rush, Ozzy Osbourne), marking a proud return to true metal roots after the line up change which ended the experimental phase of the band. And which is their main goal now as Hellyeah? And how is this experience different and maybe more challenging than everything else they have done? We also discussed the “rock is dead” statement by GENE SIMMONS, basically dictated by poor record sales, despite - paradoxically - there are lot of records coming out nowadays, more than ever: but is homerecording sane or insane, or even dangerous? And is crowd founding maybe the solution to resensitize the masses about the fact that music cannot be a free benefit? By the way Vinnie recalls also how seeing KISS live back in 1978 with Dime changed their lives forever… Included on their last album there is also a special cover of "I Don't Care Anymore" by PHIL COLLINS which features archived signature-guitar work by DIMEBAG DARRELL recorded right before his death: Vinnie explains why, when and where, and how did it feel for him to come across all this… and is the ex Genesis one of Vinnie’s heroes? Find out yourself! Vin and Ky both talk about their influences and early years, growing up with a rocking brother in the family… but how come that Kyle and his bro (Troy from MASTODON) ended both up being bass players?! Check out this funny story… And what’s next for Hellyeah after 5 albums in 10 years?
