- I built a primitive fish trap at the Mountain Farm to go Trout fishing. After a quick update at the Farm, I head to the lake to try out my new fishing trap. Ice fishing was a bit sketchy due to warmer weather and rain... Plus will the trap work?

There's a cave in iceland famous for their absolutely massive trout, if you ever decide to go on a holiday definitely recommend visiting it. It's called Lake Thingvellir.

I recommend putting knots in the safety line to make sure ur grip doesn't slip. Especially if ur tired and fall through. U'll be fighting for ur grip if u don't

I wish I had ice like that. Where I’m located in Massachusetts I’m lucky if the ponds and lakes get any ice. I barely get snow. I bought a whole bunch of ice fishing gear last year and still have not got a chance to use it. So I thank you for sharing your experiences.

If you really want to get into ice fishing you should consider getting a ice tent and maybe some cots for camping!

It takes about 3-4 weeks of consistently warm/rainy weather for the ice to be effected, that being said if there is any water on top of the ice that adds a lot of weight and could compromise the integrity of the ice and should be fished with extreme caution! Your killing it on the ice man, an absolute fish whisperer on the soft and hard water! Congrats on the new property leif!

Once you put the fish on the ice, they are dead. they dont die instantly but once they hit the ice they are goners. Id recommend the next time you want to put a fish back but need a pic of it. Get the pic of it in midair then release them. or have something warmer than the ice to set them on. not too warm or you will send them into shock. You and Simple Living Alaska inspired me to start my own youtube channel so thank you. I was literally watching your video while editing my latest vid lol.
It's the first 10 ft from shore where the ice is usually thinnest. Once you're out there on the thick ice it gets a lot safer.

The thing you called an old school well is probably just a cistern. They’re commonly used for plumbing such as septic waste which depending or not if you have a septic field it would drain most of the liquid out into that. What they’re also commonly used for is rain water collection say if you have a garden you can pump from that if you have a rain barrel or something that feeds into it. Hope this helps!

Also in your pumphouse a lot of folks leave a regular incandescent bulb 💡 running in their pump house, cause it provides enough heat in an insulated pump house to keep things warm. Or it's a backup for the heater.👍
That was the coolest thing to see you cut the hole from a underwater view. I’ve never seen anyone do that yet and it was pretty satisfying

I just got inspired and I went and baked some almond butter peanut butter cookies. And I'm going to have a big tall cold glass of milk with them. I hope you can start a work bed in that shop/garage, plant some fruit and nut trees, a great garden, deer/rabbit proof everything. Good to go.maybe put in a small pond to grow bait
