  • Testing a headlight is sometimes important because these days bulbs can cost you over $30 a piece! You can easily test your bulb to troubleshoot a different problem that is your actual issue!
A headlight fix can be simple or complicated! You decide!
I hope you enjoy this video on how to tell if a headlight is bad. Very easy, just need to use some common sense and a multimeter.

Just learning how to use my multimeter so I can make sure I everything is cool with my fuel pump wire as I put it back together. I also looked this up because I want to make a test light and had a bulb I was going to use but wanted to make sure works before I make it. Thanks for the tutorial!

Basic electrical work is not that complicated . So must took you years to master getting the light to glow!!

Very useful. I thought my bulb was bad, but the filament looked OK. So before heading out to the store, I said there's gotta be a way to check the bulb. Found your video and confirmed the bulb was actually good, it was just that some connections weren't tight. Thanks for the video.⭐

My left turn signal light bulb went out. Went to auto zone to buy a replacement. Worked perfectly. Now, I took a look at the old one and it doesn’t look bad, everything is in place, I even tested it for continuity and that works too. So how come? Any ideas? I’m starting to think my dash light might have that issue since it’s not working at the moment but tested the light bulbs and it gave me a reading. Any other method to test those? Thanks

what wuld do xenon bulbs with out ballast? me car runs for years great but sudenly it started self acelerating I suspect arcing or relays interact with xenon or dual filament buls posibly alternator back fead problem.
So me question Is can I use diodes on xenon bulbs or potenciometer or dimmer to determine where is the problem?
In other words me engine trothel cabel gets magnetised the metalic springs got contrapted leaveing me at full trothel and that is dangerouse.
Me car us old Opel from the 80s tipical GM lay out with hei ignition and I only have positive linear voltage regulator.
So need advice how to see where the problems comes from static isnt mentiomed in repair shops.
Or with what is static meshured?
And yes me alternator has no diode in the dash board and oddly enough the fiel wire from alternator also is split wire cinected to me 4pin relay pin 86 for windscren defroster.
So Im preaty much confused what to do here I disnanteled all me wire harnest It looks like desaster so I want to build independent circuets to by pass thise mentioned problem what fuse you recomend to use I want head light seperate and rear lights to be seperare what diode radings shuld I use for me relays and lights?

Hi! will having a lower voltage affect how bright the light would be? I've been having troubles with my car's low beam, we've already tried swapping out the old halogens with Philips Ultinon G2 LEDs. The lights only turned white, but it didn't seem like they got brighter.

    • @johncollins5552

Very helpful video, thank you. I subscribed. 👍I have a question, i have a 2012 honda crv exl and both of my high beams stopped working at the same time. It's only one bulb for the lows and highs, if i put a meter on my headlight plug-in and turn the key and switch it to my brights is that how I need to determine if my switch or connector is bad? Will the meter give two different reading for the lows and highs? All the fueses are good, but I can't find a relay for my headlights. Thank you

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  Před rokem +1

The high and low beams are lit up using separate wires. So low beams will be lit with one wire supplying 12V. Then when you turn on high beams, a second wire will supply 12V to a different part of the bulb. Usually that means there is 3 wires to a single bulb (2 voltage wires, 1 ground) OR two separate bulbs
