  • 👁 Ms. Maria Plume is one of the many Russian students who has shown interest and fascination for the Filipino language and culture. She studied the Filipino language at the Moscow State University (MSU) for four years, and she considers these years as the most challenging yet the most enjoyable years of her life.
At the beginning, Ms. Plume admitted that she knows nothing about the Philippines. But when she chose Filipino studies as her course and specialization in 2015, she said that this gave her a different perspective of the world through the view of the Filipino people.
Following her graduation this year, she flew to the Philippines to work as a translator. After returning to her home country a few months later, she desires to go back to the Philippines to experience more of the Filipinos’ way of life.

Yes, she speaks Pilipino ( not Tagalog ) with a definite Russian accent ( but of course! ) But it's fluent, her grammar is correct, and her pronounciation is understandable. I didn't have any difficulty understanding her.
In fact, she speaks better Pilipino than most Filipinos speak English.

Aray! Wika nga sa English, if you don't use it , you loss it. Some, like me who is lazy and don't write well, it is a matter of convenience. English have fewer letters an syllables compared to our language, mga salita natin ay mayroon maraming letra at kataga. Noon early 2000 kapag mag text ka ubos na ang load mo hindi mo pa nasabi lahat ng mensahe mo.......Minsan, mix language ang gamit lalo na kung maiintindihan ka naman ng kausap mo, so you can express better what you want to say... .

Mostly spoken English sila so they cannot spell what they are saying because of lack of schooling. But when you are typing in a small phone like me, at least some of the bad spelling are forgiveable. Blame it on big fingers.

Its okay too when you spoke in english mix in Tagalog because Taglish which is a combo of tagalog & english. Some pinoys speak taglish & some are fluent in english. I could imagine how many months you studied tagalog.

Like when she said unibersidad, most filipinos will just use school. She can be a tagalog teacher, to teach young modern filipinos to use native filipino language that are already fading.

By the way, I've been learning english for 1 year in half it was not easy, and my parents used to teased me and got confused what is going on. They had no idea that I'm leaning english. I'm so grateful because despite all of my failure i still here dedicated to pursue my dream, and eventually it becomes more easier for me to comprehend if what is going on specially every time i watch some movies. Prayer and discipline are really effective in terms of learning new skill.
