Markus Liebherr (New Owner Southampton FC) - First game at St. Marys - WELCOME!

Markus Liebherr, took ownership of Southampton FC in July 2009. He attended his first game at St. Marys, home of the mighty 'Saints', on 18 July 2009 for a friendly against Dutch side Ajax. Saints lost 1-4 but hey it was a fantastic day for all Saints fans. Saints' new manager, Alan Pardew (appointed on 17 July) was also heralded in by the Saints crowd. Thank you Mr Liebherr!

Markus, you will always be a true Saint and a legend. I was at the Charlton game when the buckets were passed around for donations before we were rescued. That was how bad it got. You moved us away from that and what a great season we had last year-a Wembley cup final, Rickie banging them in, all great stuff that Saints fans will never forget.

Watching this video makes me so proud to be a Saint.
I am not old enough to remember the glory days of the 80's but they will happen again, and all of us who have perservered since 2005 will get our just rewards. The backbone of our club is the loyal fanbase we have, and we will cheer the boys on until the natural balance is restored. Southampton in the Premier League and Portsmouth in our shadow. COME ON YOU SAINTS!
