Q• Why are you uploading cruising videos and renovation videos at the same time.
A• As of October 2021 we have finished our journey to visit every waterway on the connected system but we still have a back lock of videos to edit. For this reason we are uploading a cruising video each week till we finish the journey. In November 2021 we started a project to renovate our Narrowboat and as there was a lot of interest in is filming this we decided to alternate the renovations with the old cruising videos. We also aim to get one renovation video up each week until the cruising videos are finished.
Q• Why do you speed up some of the footage in your videos?
A• We don't, we film it as time-lapse footage. We do not have the battery capacity or data storage to film in real time as our cruises can last up to 7 or 8 hours. We use to the time-lapse footage to help tell the story of movement rather than showcase the scenery. We limit the amount of time-lapse shots we use in each vlog.
Q• Why are your video's so behind?
A• We would love to release all our video's in the same week that we film them but that isn't possible for us. Jo only really has the capacity to edit two video's per week and as we make a video for each cruise that we do and we some times cruise 3 or 4 or 5 times a week we inevitably get behind. We fit in the vlogs around our lives not the other way round.
Came for the narrowboat content, stayed for the awesome people making it. Whatever you guys end up making it'll be great.

Where we thought we were going or doing is not the direction at all, but it is so comforting to catch up again with likeminded people and get some joy from that. Those lives you are leaving will remain with you as you know but you will enrich us with new endeavours. Yeah, I don't watch your videos for the floaty boaty content... theres lots of those around, I watch 'em for you guys, your thoughts and experiences and how you deal with life or at least the bits of it you want to share. I'd watch if you were landlocked in a livingroom somewhere, you guys are interesting. Please don't worry about the monetization thing, it's just the way things are sometimes, please don't worry about it!

Gosh! Sorry to hear about all of your troubles Michael but I am glad that you will be doing further videos. I truly hope it works out for both of you (I am sure it will). I first started to watch your videos at the start of lockdown-down, as I found it interesting to hear the thoughts/comments of an American/Canadian on our canal network. Ravens are massive. Want to hear something true and funny? A year or so ago I forgot to use a 40 pack of Costco Large Tortillas, so I asked my teen son to break them up and throw them on the compost pile in the back yard. Early the next day I was on my lawn tractor cutting my front lawn and seen this big shadow above me. I looked up and it was a Raven with all 40 of those Tortillas in its mouth (clearly my son did not break them up), but as they were so heavy the Raven was 'Nose Heavy', not wanting to let go of them, but struggling to keep flight, flying at a 45 degree angle.
That’s a lot of tortilla! Also might have been a northern raven (typical in North America) which is the largest subspecies… our Bobs are definitely much larger than many of the crows around here, but aren’t as big as the ravens I met in BC. M
Yay!! I've been missing you guys - your cruising videos are so relaxing. I too have been through a lot these last few years, culminating in the loss of my husband of 36 years. I feel like I'm reconnecting with old friends, just when I needed it.

Great to have you both back. I understand your struggles Michael. I have had a similar experience (going on for 4 years now) of a neurological issue (ironically caused by treatment I had for a brain tumour 27 years ago), dealing with the NHS, watching my career disassemble and trying to cope with the mental heath implications. As such I would welcome encourage your vlog on that. Love you guys, love your approach to narrow boat content and I’ll definitely keep watching.

Michael, I remember your dust-up of two years ago, and your involvement was unquestionably admirable. Do not doubt yourself. I am so sorry that it has led to subsequent problems, but, as you know, no good deed goes unpunished. My best wishes that you and Jo are back on track for further great adventures!

I believe you are the sort of person that will overcome these sorts of problems - at 72, I can assure you that the future is undetermined, but often glorious in ways you had not previously forseen. I'm sorry you guys have struggled. I was thinking about you last week. I'm glad you are giving an update. Sometimes when life kicks you in the teeth you just have no choice but to pivot. And in my struggles I've discovered that life's not going to plan but it's still going and the surprise life still has moments of joy, wonder and satisfaction. I hope your pivot finds that is true.
It is certainly true… but it’s taking a while to see the light at the end of this moment. M
I'm sorry to hear that your plans in Cambridge were thwarted by a system not prepared for the modern world.
I started following you on Feb 1, 2021. Your adventures let me see much more of England than I'd hope to see (I've only gotten to spend about 10 hours in London, and a couple of weeks in West Sussex for work [visiting one of our UK offices]), and to learn a lot about what powered the Industrial Revolution.
I wish you the best in your new adventures--I look forward to seeing Perseverance visit the newly accessible bits of the system. Feeling that we've learned a lot about you over the last three years, I don't doubt that what you choose will be amazing.
Oh, and for George: you'll have to add a bed ramp as we did a few years ago for our now 14-year-old Sadie (Bichon/Shi Tzu mix)!

J&M, it's good to see you back. My wife Mary loves her earrings. I bought her two pairs of red and green gems, so she could have three pairs. One of red, one of green, and.... wait for it, one pair of Port and Starboard, for when we finally get another boat to cruise the cut and beyond. We also enjoyed the canal puzzle you fiendishly designed with so much White area. It took us about twenty minutes to figure out the last 5 pieces. Welcome back🎉

We too are on the Great ouse system (whissey) and talking about the stretch of water between Denver and middle levels is not a good subject. If you're still on your moorings I'm sure you know more as to when Bottisham lock will be repaired.

Great to see you and have an update. Two years on that mooring! How time flies!! I have two of the jigsaw puzzles and enjoy them. They are both in regular rotation for "puzzle season". As you probably know, we came initially for the narrowboat content and stayed because of YOU (all - George included) and the interesting and thoughtful content you produced. Additional inside/outside content would be brilliant! I am sorry things have been difficult. I remember the video you did that addressed some of the issues. I look forward to the next one, but I know that is difficult and intensely personal so take your time and keep in mind you don't owe us ANYTHING - but what you share is important and I for one really appreciate it. It makes a difference - truly. You can count on your regular viewers to widely share/promote the video. I know I will.

Itchy feet will win out in the end... You're right of course, your mooring is idyllic, but if your heart says that you need a change of scenery, and a new target, then that's what you need.
I shall be one of those people looking forward to hearing Michael telling his story when the time is right - some of what he has gone through with the University I can relate to, but I was fortunate enough to get a better outcome. I am not just here for the boating.

Hi both. Good luck on your new travels as and when you manage to escape the Great Ouse system. We were suppose to go back to Fox’s on the ML but had to abandon and got lucky with a mooring at Isleham Marina.
Plenty of waterways there to keep you occupied till it all reopens! 👍
Hopefully the plan that they’ve announced, with dredging starting in late May, actually happens! Knock wood! M

It may not, and if so there’s some protesting to be done in the form of withholding of license fees and press, but I’m hoping they do actually dredge May to June as they’ve described and get it reopened. M
@@MinimalList agreed. It’s all gone very quiet. We need to get boat blacked somewhere this year. Everyone is booked up now. Fox’s have spaces but can’t get there easily unless going over the wash and around which I’m not going to do!
I’ve tried to cancel my Anglian pass but can’t. Maybe out of the goodness of their heart the EA will knock it off our next years licence fee!🤔🤔

Will look into just how possible it is… when we were up that way we were very strongly advised against attempting to get out there due to conditions on the Humber (same with the Ancholme) and couldn’t find a pilot willing to go. Maybe we arrive this time in a more suitable moment. M

Have missed your videos sorry about your health issues and school problems glad you two are back love your cruising videos and the history of places you are cruising through best wishes I know the frustration had knee replacement 7 weeks ago and haven't been able to do a lot but it's getting better and life's struggles make you appreciate the good times
