  • My old man with his Super 8, heading through the Outback in the old days. Includes bulldust, climbing Ulura and a disaster at the end.

Mate its great you saved this and have it on here. What spirit your old man had. I travel outback a bit but would have been a lot harder in those days. Great work. Cheers Steve (Mudduck)

That was great. Back in 1979-80 I drove my CJ-5 from Washington DC to the Panama Canal and all points in between.
It wasn't as isolated as OZ but it was an adventure none the less.
The roads south of the boarder sucked....LOL

Very good. I didn't know we had Austin Gipsys out here, but then, most people who saw one would probably say, "There goes another Land Rover".

Great Vid my Dad still talks about this trip, would love to one day retrace where Dad and Allen went, Just minis the car crash/turnover. Will probably look at doing in a couple of years, but in a Landcruiser, even though the roads have hopefully improved.

The people at the end are cousins from condobolin they stay with after their accident. There is a map that briefly shows at the beginning, though it is pretty fuzzy.

Are they 7" Lucas Flamethrower spotlights on the front of the land Rover. Thery sure look like them.
