- Shaka Hislop, Dan Thomas, Steve Nicol and Craig Burley of ESPN FC try to make sense of PSG vs. Man United, which Paris Saint-Germain lost 3-1 at home to a "reserve side" put out by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The crew discusses issues from manager Thomas Tuchel, Angel Di Maria, goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, Presnel Kimpembe's controversial penalty after a VAR review, Neymar's leadership, and more. Man United won thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.

No way PSG had team to win it with Neymar, Man utd won't pass quarter there won't be 2 miracles.
@@alex324ization agree about United. Liverpool made a full strength psg look like school boys for 70 mins at anfield, they got 2 late goals to make it look close. So if your comment about psg is true then liverpool will get to final at least. Neymar had 5 touches at anfield, maybe 6

@@kinght676 small club or not. Ajax actually played very nice too and had real good players. Whilst United had freaking RESERVES and beaten the Expensive players of PSG that runs on Fat arabian Oil money.
in the end very nice result for both Ajax and Man U while both Real and PSG who are also both sponsored by Emirates got slaughtered .
Then again, Karma kinda played part with how Di Maria acted towards MU fans in the first leg. Shame on him and his team.
i think domestic league experience played a big part in that game...united play in a league where they always have to be mentally prepared to come from behind..whereas psg dominate their domestic league which prevents them from facing such "come from behind" situations.
Good point.
True but any team shud be able to bury a 2 goal away lead against a B team...it was arrogance on their part... why were they attacking when it was 1-1... I would have had PSG jus knock the ball around n frustrate Man U... but they looked like they wanted to win 5-1... same level of arrogance for their opponents as Ramos had for Ajax
That was just arrogance they thought they had won it and bam United sucker punched them
@@timmy77ish I actually dont think, that arrogance is their problem. Their problem is, that they dont have the big european club mentality on the pitch, like Real, Barca, Bayern or even United will always have due to their history. This history Thing can not be bought by PSG. The same is with Man City. It doesnt mean this Money Clubs will never win it, but the Champions League itself just dont like such Clubs it seems, other Teams seem to be more "connected" to the CL-aura. This is a mentally Thing.
@@f1fanger714 true but also they dont have the experience in the CL to know when to lock up the game and play it out, I think all they know is how to keep going forward. They dont have a winning mentality in the CL I think they expect to lose at this stage or even in the quarters.

United: 16 goals in the first 5 games.
ESPN “Soccer Experts”: Well, United haven’t played any top teams.
United: Beat Tottenham, beat Arsenal, beat Chelsea, and draw Liverpool.
ESPN “Experts”: Well, Ole did lose to PSG. United have yet to win against any of Europe’s true elite.
United: Complete historic 2nd leg come back (away) against PSG.
ESPN “Experts”: “This is about PSG” Ole didn’t really have much to do with it. Rashford and Lukaku worked hard, but it wasn’t Ole’s doing that PSG bottled t.
I come over from the real football analysts to ESPN FC every once and a while for a reminder that American soccer analysts like this bunch are either spiteful or just don’t know much about football. To not give Ole the utmost of credit for winning 14 games out of 17, drawing two and losing just one (to a team over which United advanced in the tournament) is madness. No wonder ESPN still isn’t taken seriously for it’s “soccer” punditry.
They are entertaining. That's what counts. It's far exiting to hear them than other pundit panels.
I honestly think Ole isn't really doing anything I personally think most of this is motivation. You know having an ex player of the club coach you it's motivation. I don't think he has the tactical makeup of other managers and I think when they play City it'll show
@@contact5235 He's employed 8 different formations and has been excellent tactically. He has beaten each of the most tactically proficient mangers in the game (Poch, Emery, Tuchel, Ranieri, Benetiz, Howe). I'm curious why you think the changes in tactics in almost every game he's managed isn't a scene of tactical acumen. Pep is a tactical genius, him beating a manager tactically doesn't suggest that they themselves are not incredible tacticians. It sounds like you folks are just contrarians. Earlier in the year it was "the United squad just isn't good enough" and now it is "the United squad is so good that it doesn't matter who the manager was." You guys sounds like Paul Ince.
But beyond that, to equate "motivation" to not "really doing anything" misses a massive portion of what football managing it about. Getting the best out of players isn't just putting them in the right positions and picking the right teams (though he has done that with the likes of Herrera - who is finally getting consistent first team football in his best position - Lingard, Mata (again, who is now being played more frequently as a #10 as opposed to an inverted winger, which just doesn't work), Rashford (who is being played down the middle finally)), "motivation" is man management, which is at least 50/60% of a manager's job -- especially at top clubs. That is what made Sir Alex Ferguson great.
Man Utd beat Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Paris, Juventus this season.
Draw to Liverpool.
Don't do that if you're not a top team.
@@twilliams4700 Your comment is on point!
How about you all talk about how Ole pulled off a masterclass. Or how Lukaku was immense. Then finish by praising Rashford for scoring the biggest goal of his career.

OLE: HOLD MY BEER
United had less than 30% possession and were saved by a dodgy 90th minute penalty.
@@The_Reality_Filter Jose Mourinho won 2 champions league without possession.
@@The_Reality_Filter The penalty was not dodgy. It was pretty clear. The PSG player saw a shot coming. He threw himself into the trajectory of said shot. Turned his back mid air, with his elbow sticking out. Meaning his arm/elbow was seeking the balls trajectory, and it got hit.
Its not illegal to block shots. But if a player is going to throw themselves in front of the balls trajectory, like the PSG player did. He has to take into account that his arm cannot be out from his body, thus potentially blocking the shot. Him blocking the shot with his arm/elbow, is enough for a penalty, because he threw himself into the trajectory of the ball, knowing its trajectory. Its a clear penalty.
Many people are comparing it with the Otamendi one a few weeks ago. But that situation is totally different, and where VAR actually got it wrong. Otamendi was standing still, and when he saw the trajectory of the ball, he actually tried to move away fromt he path of the ball. Meaning its the ball seeking the player/arm. Not the other way around, as when the PSG player jumped and threw himself into the trajectory of ball. Meaning the player/arm was seeking the ball. Penalty vs no penalty.
@@The_Reality_Filter possesion do nog bring win. Goal decide who gonna win asshole
@@The_Reality_Filter United had 70% possession every week under Van Gaal and got no where. Possession doesn't win football matches unless you do something with it. Ole said that Man United were going for an early goal, hence why they pressed the defenders high up at the start. Ole then took off Bailly and replaced him with Dalot. Ashley Young then went to right back, and Dalot went ahead of him, as a result Ole improved our defence and attack simultaneously. Man United then played counter attacking football as they were instructed to do and got another goal. When Ole decided that it was time to go all out for the win later on, he brought on two attackers and the player he brought on earlier (Dalot) created a penalty.
Ole's plan worked once again. He learnt from the first leg. To do this with practically a reserve side is nothing short of amazing!

The largest mistake was the backpass after 2 minutes, you give a team hope that early on in a match, its obvious what can happen. When you pay over 400million Euro for just Neymar and Mbappe combined, you expect a better performance up front too, and it just didn't happen.
PSG are an absolute joke! They spend every single season preparing for Champions League since their French League title is gift wrapped every year now and yet they still lose every year! This time it's to Man United's C Team. They brought in Neymar to watch them lose. Monaco, Lyon and Marseille are the Real French Clubs, they have heart and aren't plastic.
I would sign for Lyon immediately.
yer those 3 clubs have always being strong.
This is what city is turning into
@Communist Glaceon semi finals means nothing. winning it means something. and psg have passed the round of 16 btw.
jack coffey but City plays in a more competitive league.... have some sense
Why are these pundits always reactionary; they never get their predictions rights even though they've been pundits for years
They don't have a crystal ball and being a pundit for years doesn't give you foresight skills.
Pretty much everyone expected PSG to go through, who seriously expected ManU to come back?
I wanted ManU win, but I wouldn't have bet on it.
Didn't Know pundits stood for - future predictions
No crystal ball...lol. Not so much crystal....more coal? The imbeciles had Ajax 1-10 for the 2nd leg.....ffs. 'Clueless Reactionaries' for the full title.
Gin-Nius. Yes but if you watched the Ajax - Real Madrid first leg, you could tell that Ajax were the better team. And with the recent back to back losses vs Barca, no way would Real Madrid go through. I was betting on Ajax to pass and I am no pundit. They always get their predictions wrong and then they come back after the game and say the complete opposite of what they were predicting 🤣. You watch other sports shows, their pundits aren’t this clueless.
Yea your right , if you tract it all together they are 0-4,576
Who's here after the Madrid game? :)
3 YEARS ON, if you replace Manchester united with real Madrid, Tuchel wit Poch, you would not know when this happened.
PSG will officially be known as the best team to exit in round of sixteen.
Also Neymar has officially tarnished his name, playing in a third rate league chasing money. Congratulations. You played yourself. You will never be even close to the greatest ever.
The English Premier League is the best league in the world. Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Totenham, Chelsea and Arsenal. The competition is insane
Bean Counter Still one of the best players of this generation. Hardly the failure you make him sound

There is no denying that he has put the United back in United
He was lucky. They were outclassed.

@@footballmasters1453 United capitalised on PSG's mistakes and arrogance. That's football.
LOL Burley @4:09 almost drops an F bomb, he's that riled up
This still makes me happy 🙂
PSG must be a drinking club. They love bottles.
@CrazySoon9413 What does Liverpool have to do with this you inbred
Ángel Di María turned down a fee Heineken in the first leg!
Theses clowns can't simply say that Ole mastered it ,he played a 541 yet he still manage to attack and create chances of goals.Well done Ole and congratulation to utd .
You the only clown here UTD went through by a pk it wasn’t mastered anything cause they barely even had possession they didn’t play that well but props to them for beating that fraud club P$Gالله سمانا المسلمين ،من أنتم يا سنة وشيعة ؟
That's what happens when you play 541 you moron ,you're not supposed to possess anything but prevent to concede goals yet they did have 5 shot in goal and scored 3 even though they played the reserve team .Maybe the moron in you should educate himself about football instead of embarrassing himself in public.
"Attacked" He parked the bus and got lucky with PSG making mistakes.
Really ? and how was Lukaku benefiting from the mistakes of the defender of psg and the keeper if he was parking the bus with his teammates to protect his box?!
Dude don't let the hate of utd blind you from the truth ,this will embarrass you ;o)
@@islambary2menkom fuck off fucking idiot. This isnt a tactical masterclass this was all luck. 0 chances created all goals came from mistakes and a refereeing decision
How about today
I see Man Utd winning a treble after three years
I hope so.
The same lot who couldn't sing enough praises of tuchel and psg in the away leg at Old Trafford . Flipflops
They deserved it in the first leg, what is ur point?
@@SouthernYankee10000 you don't go in on them so harsh .give the opposition credit where it is due
Dude they have to comment game by game. Opinions change with performance lol. Idk why you gotta complain about nothing ya wanker
@@devshashOG I beg to disagree . Let me reiterate the point I'm trying highlight. These so called pundits were lauding the likes of Mbappe,Di Maria ,Verrati,Marquinos,Silva,Bernat after the 1st leg . You either rate a player or you don't. It's based on his ability and attributes. You can't change your opinion and castigate them based on a single performance. After tonight's defeat , you hear these jokers calling each of those players bottlers and criticizing their ability to play at the highest level.
Yes, you can definitely be critical or applaud a team based on it's performance in an isolated match but to question a player's ability who you rated very highly just a couple of weeks back, goes to show the dearth of football IQ in these cretins.
Manchester United haters mad 😡😂😂😂😂😆😆😆😃😃
As much as i hate United as a Liverpool fan im happy to see PSG get knocked. I hate cheaters more than anything, and PSG has ruined french football with their money by making the league one sided, and failing to represent it on the international stage,
You're next to go lol
hate both clubs with all of my heart as a Liverpool fan and I hate plastic teams (City, cough cough). However, it took an extremely questionable penalty for United to win is all I'm saying. I don't know who I would prefer to have won but I wish it had happened in a legitimate way rather than that pathetic excuse for a penalty.

Over harsh on PSG, too little credit given to Solskjaer and United’s “reserves”. Typical of these pundits when it comes to United. The first team ever in the history of the European Cup / Champions League (ie since the 1950s) to go through after a 0-2 defeat in the home leg, which incidentally was United’s biggest home defeat in Europe, you might have thought would have received a little more credit for this achievement with their Academy kids.
I’m happy united won as they’re an English team. But you can’t make out they were amazing , PSG just gifted them 3 goals
It was pure fortune. PSG should have scored 5 if they weren't such bolters.
@@davidwebb1872 Well who was the better team then because United didn't make those mistakes.
Done by a Manager who also won a UCL title in the final by overturning a 2:0 deficit to win 3:2 in normal time.
Begin the excuses on how United manage to win, so you don’t have to give any credit to Ole
Man Utd only beats small teams...😁
These pundits omd, they struggle to even give Solskjaer credit for his willingness to change tactics and get the team playing with confidence and give them the self belief needed to win the game! These pundits are just jealous and arrogant of Solskjaer.
Mohammad K there still chatting shit about United and Oleg
Watch till the end
J Boogie u wanna check Rhodes stats again mate
They had same number of shots on target as United
They bottled it
@J Boogie Then United were tactically better
@@davidkariu2330 How the hell were they tactically better. Their goals came on opponents mistakes. It wasn't even some sort of pressing. It was simply clumsiness of the opponent. That is luck, not knowledge. Sure...they put it in the net. But they didn't really had to work for anything in this game. And the penalty...just a bad ref call that still makes no sense. Especially given the circumstances. ManU wasn't even asking for a PK.
Please PSG won with the same goalkeeper in Old Trafford all of a sudden Buffon is the reason they lost please Manchester United had a game plan it was obvious and they played to their game plan. You can not under estimate the heart of a Champion and every Manchester United fan will tell you the spirit of this club is “Never give up until the last second of the game” that’s in the DNA of the club. Effort beats talent every day of the week and twice on Sunday! Manchester United deserved to win the game plain and simple!
These are the most anti-Man Utd pundits in sport.
Well the second goal was 100% his fault. Thats why they are bashing him, clearly. A world class GK can't afford such a mistake, in an extremely important moment of a knock-out game.
@ElGallo....they had all of the 2nd half to either increase their goal deficit or shut up shop but their arrogance and lack of killer instinct lost them the game. You can’t isolate moments in the game and use that as an excuse for the game. You judge the game on its totality and Manchester United had a game plan going into the game and played it to a T
Its never give up till the referee blows the whistle
I figured if they found a way to to close down Mbape they would have a chance

Ole tatic and what he had the player doing won the game. A 4-4-2 was the way to go, but yet having the forwards coming back. When big clubs are playing sometimes the game become psychological, not because you played better or you had the better team. And today it was psychological. PSG just couldn't hold their own, they were playing against the name, MANCHESTER UNITED, and the name got the better of them. Reminder, this was Man Utd second team.
This second stringer game, with a 2-0 deficit, was supported by the presence of Sir Alex Ferguson, Eric Cantona, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, and many more Man U greats and fans. One cannot say that they were not ready for the Man U magic. Oh what a night!
I am...and always will be a Liverpool supporter...but saying that..I have to say well done Man Utd, you played exceptionally well and deserved to go through...oh and if your board does not give Solskjaer the manager's job...they must be taking drugs...well done again and Come on Liverpool you can do the same YNWA !!!!!

What? Yeah obviously ? They won 2-0 couple weeks back. Today they lost? For psg that is a disgrace? How is this reaction not expected? They were on track and doing the job well= praise. Then they bottle it = criticise. That’s usually how it works.
Don Z your only as good as your last game. So that’s what happens.
@@samgarrett1055 u kinna missed my point, two weeks ago they called it a tactical masterclass when marquinhos "locked down" Pogba. Now a mere two weeks later marquinhos is somehow no longer good to play in psgs midfield and they raise the Rabiot argument, although it's a good point and the club should play him but they have dealt with his absence superbly, so superb that nobody even remembers Rabiot.
Don Z I think their point is, if Marquinhos plays like he did tonight, then no he is not good enough. But at the same time, he did close down pogba really well, but today against worse opposition he was shit. So I believe they need to be called out.
