So my best friend whom I’ve known for 17 years has always been a centrist. Very much listens to “ both” sides without really ever doing enough research on true leftist ideology. He mostly sends borderline conservatives videos in the group chat. Well I finally started to speak up and educate him on what socialism is and all the history behind it. I didn’t know if he’d be into Hasan but I said fuck it and recommended him to check out Has along with other great introductory channels like Hakim. I’m kicking it with him this weekend and he’s like “ dude I’ve been watching a ton of Hasan lately” and it brought me so much joy. He’s still not budging on certain economic issues, not totally writing it off as “impossible” but saying that he has to do more research which I respect. I’ll take what I can get and continue to try to guide him with literature and videos that hopefully will continue his journey.
