  • Sky News politcal editor David Speers speaks one-on-one with Paul Keating. In vintage PJK fashion, the former PM doesn't hold back on edging Bob Hawke out of the Labor leadership, the current crop of politicians, the Republican issue, Aboriginal reconciliation, and more.

I can't help but think what this country could have been if Keating had stayed and Howard had failed. What a lost opportunity for us all. A once in a lifetime great leader.

The greatest leader Australia ever had. Best candidate for 1st President of the Australian Republic. In hindsight, had Keating had his way and raised mandatory superannuation contribution to 15%, most savings would've evaporated during the 2008 GFC. Superannuation as it stand does not work.

I think an Australian republic has pros and cons, if we do introduce it it should enable us to pick the leaders of the parties like in the United States because its a democracy we shouldnt have to choose between two evils come election time. Also we should choose whether we can vote or not, its our choice. Voting isnt even compulsory technically you can donkey vote still
