i looked like an idiot yesterday trying to launch from a boat without ever having done it... coming back and watching this video today and seeing how much easier and safer i could have been if only i had watched this video first... what a resource, thank you so much for making this, saving for the future to remember

My pleasure Ryan, the first launches from the boat are usually tricky, even if you know how to do it.
Glad the video helped and wish you all the best for your upcoming trips!

My kids and I launch off the boat a lot, and as we are just beginner level we use a line and float with carabiner to attach the Chicken Loop in the water. Its a nice safe way to secure the kite when returning to the boat as its easy to grab the float and clip on. Thanks for the videos, it helps us learn a lot. I hope my kids could ride as well as you one day 😁

That's awesome Andrew, I think the floating line is a very nice and safe way to connect the kite to the boat. Also a lot easier to get to.
I'm guessing your kids are having a lot of fun on the water and that's the main thing that counts, from there they'll progress to become better riders 🤙

I love the FS sonic 3 riding in bowtie at the end of the video. I guess that rider is ready to have a wet kite xD

I wondered when the first person was going to make a comment about that 😂

I was wondering what that was! So, somebody's kite got twisted around itself and they kept riding and that's what I was seeing in the background? It looked crazy.

I thought it was a ram air. I played it back a few times to see. The only way an inflated leading edge could look like that is with a fifth line and that would be short lived.

Is it possible to be kitesurfing along with a sailing catamaran? Will the kite be as fast as the catamaran?

    • @stevenakkersdijk

Yes it is for sure, but depending on the location it might not be very safe for the kiter. (usually you only go as far away from the beach that you can still swim back in case of an emergency. Or you need a support boat that can pick you up) A kite will be faster than 90% of the catamarans out there, excluding the ones on foils (they'll be faster)

Be more helpful if you were on a 20foot or less boat

Could just take shorter lines 😉 Jokes aside, it would have been great to film on a smaller boat, but I don't think it will change much in the way that I would approach the launch and getting ready

@@stevenakkersdijk didn't mean that in a bad way. I'm on a 18 foot gonna give it a shot tho
