Hello all! Today I wanted to try out creating a watercolor background using Tombow Markers. I've used similar techniques in the past with Distress Inks, but this time I used different colors of Tombow Markers. My inspiration was the Northern Lights.
I used two new Lawn Fawn products on this card: the Little Town border die and Winter Big Scripty Words stamp set. I love how easy it was to create a simple scene. I think I'll be creating background like this more in the future. It was super easy and quick! :)

Wow! you could not have got that impression of the northern lights any better!, Don't ya just love it when something goes soo right.
I really love that you were describing each detail. I've watched all of your videos, and Jennifer's, Julie's, .... well - I'm your groupie. But in this video you were really talking to us, the beginners!!!
finally someone without copic
Ahaha
Analika Singh that’s actually so true😂
Hi Kristina ~ This card is stunning. My husband and I lived in Alaska for 3 years and you've captured the Northern Lights beautifully. It was almost eerie at times watching them delicately dance across the sky. The bright green is the most common color but the colors you've used are ones I've also seen. That's one of the things I miss most about AK; those gorgeous, spiritual Northern Lights. Very nicely done. ~HUGS~
That sky was amazing! And the dark silhouette against it just really popped. Great job!
I love that sky too! TFS!
This is so pretty. Love the water color sky. Thank you.
Beautiful! An a tangential note, I love your little closing tune. It brings me joy every time I hear it on your channel.
I originally looked at this video for ideas on how to use Tombow markers but got caught up in the card making aspect of it. What a beautiful card ! Thanks for sharing.
The background is so beautiful, no wonder you didn't want to lose any of it! X

Love your card, how creative!
AWESOME SKY!!! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing the wonderful color inspiration and a card using the Tombow pens. I'm still working on blending with distress inks, but bookmarked this video for when I'm ready to experiment with the brush pens.
Beautiful!
Cute! Also seeing this as a great technique for making astronomy themed cards too. That's the perfect backdrop colours for adding the milky way.
Kristina makes great outer-space backgrounds with all sorts of colors and stars galore. Kristina--You ROCK!
Simple but elegant ty so much for sharing

That's so pretty! Thanks for the video, I might try it one day. 🤗
Beautiful
Beautiful background with your Tombows. I don't use mine as much any more since I got the Zig pens so thanks for the reminder! I know what you mean about Christmas cards - I actually make mine all year long, two per month. Thanks for the video!
looks amazing!
cute
so beautiful!!💙💖💙💜🌌🌌🌌
GREAT sky, Kristina!!! Love those colors, and I can see how the green just wouldn't work. I imagine it just would make mud, especially with the purple/magenta colors you used. Still beautiful, though! Glad you didn't sacrifice much of your background panel. Thanks so much for sharing this! :)
thanks so much for ur tutorial it's absolutely amazing! love it xx
What a process
Love the colors. Would be an easy one to mass produce. TFS.
Pretty card n looks great tfs 🤓
So pretty :)
So many tools... Wow!
Looks more like a galaxy than northern lights.
Yes, pastel galaxy
Simple but beautiful!
Loved it
I thought you were so smart to look up the Northern Lights before starting your card! I think I might have tried a stray line of the green somewhere--but, truthfully, your card didn't need it! It is quite beautiful! Thank you for the inspirational card and video! (Peg)
i was inspired by how u make the sky 💗💗
I would have added that neon green because it looks like a galaxy ..... but its beautiful and cool without it....stay awesome ;)
Love! When does your official holiday series begin? It's one of my favorite holiday traditions!
Not for a month or so.
beautiful Kristina!
Beautiful card! This was such a fun video to watch. I love the sky colors! Tfs Kristina
Gorgeous!! Oh my goodness.. that sky is stunning! I can totally relate to no wanting to lose one spec of it.. You made the right call on this one for sure... ! This is a perfect illustration of "Beauty in Simplicity" .... : >
I've got to start my Christmas cards soon too 🍭
I have four of those tombow brush pen pallets the galaxy pallet which I see you are using, the skin tone pallet, the pastel pallet, and the bright colors pallet
Love the card. Wish OnLine Classes for the holidays would start earlier so more Christmas cards could be made (maybe even in July).
Awesome.
I love the card but I must say that living in Sweden where we have a lot of Northern lights this did not look like it at all, the green really is essential to the northern lights as that is the colour that moves. I know it was just a inspiration but would have loved to see the green xx
i was going to mention that too (hi fellow nordic person!) but then i figured maybe she dropped the northern lights idea somewhere along the way. oh well, either way, it's a beautiful card :3
+teapotlizard Hiiii nordic person 😀
Yes that is what I thought she did too and yes it is still a gorgeous card would just live to have seen it with the green 😊
Where does that green color come from in the Northern Lights. Is that the same as the auroraborealis? So beautiful.
+mawmawvee Yes it's the same thing different names 😊
2009Mrs Jones, Thanks for confirming that. I think there is a song about the Northern Lights, or some such thing. Somehow, I just don't think the Aurora borealis would have the same effect in a song. :)
Its so beautifull! Meow.. I love it!
lovely
This looks really nice :o
You on the water coloring:)!
Really pretty, I'll have to try it, my watercolor markers tend to tear up my paper so this might be a better way to use them
Nice work
woe so creative 😍😍😍
Gorgeous, especially as a Christmas card. But -- it looks like a magnificent sunset -- no green, not Northern Lights. ( From a former Fairbanks AK resident!) No less beautiful for that!
I'm thinking, looking at this video, one could cut out some yellow cardstock and leave the black pieces of the doors on the houses and it would look like the house is lit inside. If you kept the pieces from the doorways, you could stick them back in the doorways so it wouldn't get so cold inside the houses from having the doors left open. : )
I. Love. Tombow.❤😊❤🎉
Wow beautiful!I was also wondering when you will be doing a craft room tour also.
creative
Y card Kristina!! I don't think I could have cut that background either! It was so soft and just so pretty!! :)
Should've said pretty card! Lol!! 😝
габи
I love when I do something and I shock myself speechless and I'm like I will never do that again, Wrong,, LOL, I just did a Graffiti project and your video really helped me create something amazing, Thanks 😁
You are brilliant
At last no water colors
This is gorgeous! What shades did you use for the markers?
this is beautiful, Kristina! I have a question for ya. in card making, cards of many uncommon dimensions and shapes are made haha. where is the best place to find envelopes that fit and accommodate? or do most people just make their own? thanks so much!
I don't know about Kristina but I make my own envelopes for uncommon sized cards. I go to this site: thecraftyowl.co.uk/boxbuster. This not only will let you make larger envelopes but it has sizes so you can make boxes and thicker envelopes for thick cards. And I use the WE R Memory Keepers envelope punch board.
