As an Indian, I found this as a good introduction to China. Despite China being 2nd largest economy in the world , we hardly have any news about China except for the border disputes. Indian media needs to become more mature and give us Indians more extensive coverage on China.
The border disputes are left from Britain. Damn!

As a Sichuanese, I’d like to add that Sichuan can actually be divided into 2 parts, east part Sichuan and west part Sichuan. East part is usually considered as part of traditional Han culture district as it has been conquered and included since Qin dynasty (more than 2000 years ago), formerly known as Shu country (蜀国). West part is actually part of Tibetan plateau where the culture is similar to Tibet itself. So in the video the description is more about east part of Sichuan. And Sichuanese dialect is similar to mandarin as it is derived from mandarin, so most of my friends who speak Mandarin Chinese can understand if I speak my dialect(if I speak slowly).

I am Chinese, and I want to say that you really have a deep understanding of China. I think most foreigners do not understand the relationship between Taiwan and China, but you mentioned the historical ties between them. In fact, the mainland and Taiwan are still technically in a civil war. The mainland views the Republic of China as the previous regime that retreated to Taiwan after being defeated but never ceased to be part of China. Initially, Taiwan also considered both the mainland and Taiwan to be part of China, pursuing a goal to reclaim the mainland. However, with the mainland's growing power, they have given up on this goal and are now seeking independence.
Its not a civil war lol

As a Vietnamese I say Chinese people from Shandong are quite similar to what we have with Vietnamese people from Hai Phong or other Northern coastal areas. People from there are usually tall, strong and light skin.

Wow, the video is on point. Really detailed and precise.
Thank you for this easy to understand and unbiased explanation
0:33 Explaining how the "Turk and Muslims" and "Manchuria" part are oversimplified:
The "Turk and Muslims" region in the video is traditionally the mix of Aryan(for example Tocharian) and Han city states scattered across the oases in the desert, and they were mostly Buddhist, the Turk and Muslims are actually a new thing in those areas that becomes the majority only after Renaissance/Early Modern.
The Turks are immigrants for that area, they were origianlly living in the western part of the "Mongol" area before Mongol even existed. So it is not accurate to describe "Mongol" or "Turk" area because they are not settled in stationary places.
And the Muslims in China are actually started from the Southern costal area where Han Chinese is the majority of population (what the video called as China proper), where Ṣaḥāba (companions of the prophet, including his uncle) entered China by sea route with Arabic merchant ships.
"Manchuria" is a fake modern thing made up by Imperial Japanese colonization before and during WW2. Historically, the Manchu people never regarded those areas as something called Manchuria, they only see Liaoning as their homeland, while the two other provinces further up north are still considered as barbarians even for the Manchu who were already considered as barbarians by Han. The Manchu thing is actually a translation error. Manchu actually comes from Manjushri the Bodhisattva of wisdom, this comes from Tibetan Buddhist Lamas, they usually call the ruler of China(including Tibet) as the Manju Emperor, and the last one is the special case when monarchy no longer exists so they later just used Manju Chairman Mao.
The ethnicity of those people are mainly Jurchen, and the core is Jianzhou Jurchen, the geographical term used here is Jianzhou, it is a zhou(an administrative division) of Liao Dong(Liaoning East). So they should be called Jurchen from Jianzhou, not Manchu from Manchuria(word invented by colonizers). This translational error is caused by mixing "ju" from "Manju" with "zhou" from "Jianzhou".
And Manchu is a newly formed identity after the Qing dynasty is formed, it is more of a military aristocracy instead of ethnicity, the majority of Manchu are the eight banners, even though they call it "8", but actually there are theoretically 24 of them, because there are 8 of Manchu banners, 8 of Mongol banners, 8 of Han army banners. Actually there are only 23 of them, the Bordered Yellow Banner(the one that the emperor belongs to) of Han army banners is missing, by the law of Qing dynasty, Manchu can only mix breed with Mongols, so the emperor's royal family banner can't really have Han people in them.
In reality, they are still married to Han people, because "law" isn't really a thing for the emperor when they insisted on marrying a Han woman as the empress, so what would actually happen is that the Han women will be adopted by a Manchu family before they are married with Manchu so in the legal documents it will be "Manchu-Manchu" instead of "Manchu-Han" marriage.
A weird thing is that both the 8 Mongol banners and 8 Han army banners were also categorized as Manchu due to very chaotic society after the collapse of the Qing dynasty, even though they were never considered as Manchu during Qing dynasty. During Qing dynasty, being a bannerman is more important than being Manchu, this error is probably made when they mistakened the definition of bannerman with Manchu.
Ironically, most of real Manchu people(by "real" I mean the Jurchens from Jianzhou) registered their ethnicity as Han to avoid people seeking revenge on them after the collapse of Qing.

For Fujian Province, I want to supplement: we are the top 1 province producing and consuming tea, instead of Yunnan Province😁The world's first Black Tea (Lapsang Souchong) was developed in Fujian, so it's the starting point of old China's Maritime Silk Road. BTW, as we are located nearest to Taiwan, we are the poorest province in the southeast of China (investing from governments to Fujian are deemed to be in vain as it's the first warplace between mainland and Taiwan so the central government just don't invest us...), which obliged Fujianese to migrate to the world to make a living (or else we are poor to death). Fujian has hundreds of dialects (the largest in Chinese provinces) as it's a remote area in the ancient China for escapee from northern China to live. 75% Taiwanese are descendants of southern Fujianese and speak Southern Fujian dialects (hokkien). BTW, I don't like Taiwan, as Taiwan governments has killed hundreds of Fujianese fisherman inhumane in the last 30 years (recently killed two poor fisherman of Fujian in the 2023 Spring Festival😠).
The tea traders who trade with the Cantonese say Cha or something similar, the people who trade with the Fujianese say teh or something similar.
I think there was a point where president Xi Jin Ping was governor of Fujian and one of his tasks was to get more investments from Taiwan.

0:35 Southwest China is considered China proper, despite having some minority groups. This is because many of their cultures are similar to that of the Han.
It seems that you know a lot about the history and culture of China. You are right that the orthodox Han culture is indeed the south, but in fact the north is the birthplace of the Han nationality. Because of the war, the Han nationality was forced to migrate to the south. A very dark history happened in China more than 1,700 years ago. Because of the wrong policies made by the rulers at that time, an internal war broke out in China, and the northern minorities took the opportunity to invade China. At that time, China was unable to resist the invasion because of the internal war. Those ethnic minorities were very cruel and they would arrest the girls and girls of the Han nationality.China has a poem.《白骨露于野,千里无鸡鸣》The meaning of this poem is that the bones of those dead people are exposed to the wild, and there are no animal cries in Fiona Fang for thousands of miles. A bustling place has been killed by those ethnic minorities into a no-man's land, and the Han people have to migrate to the south in order to survive, which only preserves the orthodox culture of the Han people and
What is even more frightening is that those ethnic minorities will make captured girls into marching rations.

1. The map at 0:34
The China proper areas should include Sichuan, Gansu, part of Liaoning, and Hainan Island.
2. Names of provinces
Hebei(河北), north of the river, here the river means the Yellow river.
So there is also south of the river----Henan(河南).
Shandong(山东), east of the mountain, no "s", here the mountain means the Taihang Mountain.
So there is also west of the mountain, which is Shanxi(山西).
Jiangsu(江苏), means Jiangning(江宁, today known as Nanjing(南京)) and Suzhou(苏州), not river and Su city. These are the most important cities in the province, and we just name province after these two cities.
Fujian(福建), means Fuzhou(福州) and Jianzhou(建州).
Guangdong(广东), means to the east of Guang, here Guang means Guangxin County(广信县, today known as Fengkai (封开)), so the whole southern area of China was devided into two parts by this county, Guangxin County to the east, is Guangdong, and to the west, is Guangxi(广西).
Hubei(湖北), north of the lake, here the lake means the Dongting Lake, one of the most largest fresh water lake in China.
So there is also south of the lake--Hunan(湖南).
Jiangxi(江西), actually means the west part of South of the River (江南), here the river means the Yangtze River. In the Tang Dynasty, the south of the river was a whole province, but it was too large and rich, which concerned the emperor, so it was splited in half, into east and west parts.
However the east part lost it's name thought out the history, and turned into basically Zhejiang province.
Chongqing(重庆), means double celebration, they change the city's name to celebrated two things together. But what exactly they were celebrating, the historians are still arguing.
Jinlin(吉林), named after the city of Jilin(吉林市), which came from the Manchu language "girin ula", means "by the river".
Guizhou(贵州), the historians are still arguing about how it got the name, but definitely not "precious state".
Yunnan(云南), named after the Yunnan County(云南县, today known as Xiangyun County(祥云县)).
Hainan(海南), south to the sea.
Sichuan(四川), conbination of four provinces of Chuan, here Chuan(川) means rivers, there are multiple rivers in the area, which form the Chengdu Plain.
In Song Dynasty, 981 AD, this area was combined with the southern part of Shaanxi, form a province called Chuanshaan(川陕路), and later in 1001 AD, it was splited into 4 small provinces--Yizhou(益州路), Lizhou(利州路), Zizhou(梓州路), and Kuizhou(夔州路), these 4 provinces were called "the four Chuans".
Gansu(甘肃), Ganzhou(甘州, now known as Zhangye(张掖)) and Suzhou(肃州, now known as Jiuquan(酒泉)).
China are cool country But they disturb culturely because many dynasty kings ruled it with different name but in fact they are same and one language people nation 😅🇨🇳👨👩👧👦

sichuan (chengdu city) and chongqing (municipality) are the gay capitals tbh
sichuan girls are famous of their meanness to their boyfriends, that's why so many sichuan boy end up gays.

A cyberpunk region looking very beautiful and many places too. I remembered a meme about Russian and China border.
It is looks like very two different worlds.
China side looks futuristic.
And Russia side... a void.... wolfs... woooooooooo.....
There's a part where the Russians often go across the border for shopping cause the Chinese have the malls and cheap groceries.
To be fair, the border region on the Chinese side is also mostly empty grassland and desert, a few cities like Heihe are actually pretty average, just have some LED to show to the Russians.
Myanmar pls bro
