Great comparison with the classic cheap zoomies and some beast zoomies! I got a Defiant from Home Depot about 5 years ago that is zoomie with the decent reflector and dome that has no squareness in the got spot. I think it uses a Cree XML-T6 or U2 I cant remember. Not that bright, maybe 400 lumens. Another great ultra cheap one is the Coast HP1. AA small pocket light, one mode but can use 14500 for some extra output.

You should try out NEBOS redline Series and Nicrons N8F N81 F51 F81 the F81 is the high end of Nicrons zoomies but the N81 comes with a tube that converts AA-18650!
I just compared my D1k to my K36 both with xhp70.3 and the d1k is actually brighter. D1k is same length as s21e just wider head. So basically it's comparable to k36 but the size of s21e. Love it! The k36 is about 1" longer, the reflector is about same width but k36 is longer reflector which makes the led look smaller. Optical illusion is my guess.
The focusing optic? I understand, I get stumped at times as well. Again, if you have not tried Coast, they are my favorite zoom lights. They have a great beam.

13:56 You don't need to zoom-in till LED is in focus. Just small zoom-out and the problem gone. Plano-convex lens Zoomies are good for close distances, throw is a bonus (you rearly need). Hard-edge is a plus when walking in city with lots of people - zero disturbance. Also plano-convex lenses gives angular-even beam, so no hotspots - perfect for examining at close distance. Objects illumination depends on distance only, and not on how you point flashlight as common (reflectors) light. Thanks for Wuben review - I was interested in it. I need wider beam. S11C which I have is really bad - impossible to find the button in the darkness, and cross-shape artifacts just not for me.
Honestly my friend I don't know how it's wired under the wrap, and I can fry drivers and leds if it's wired a different way for charging capabilities, so I basically just leave it as is.

@@smotheredchrome I picked up a q8 plus.. I need u to tell me what all I need to change on it to give me the best output.. and i found out how people are getting ~30,000 lumens from it. Before I tell you….if you do it you will get expected 30,000 down to 10,000 by 30 seconds.. because heat lol.. but it’s the tail spring bypass mod. The ec06 ( at some point) was slightly different and that’s why some people get 24000-30000 lumens.. that’s the mod to do for the q8 plus. I’m not doing it for obvious reasons

It's a cheap light build wise but excellent beam profile for a zoomie IMHO.

Can you use Interstate Batteries with two button-top battaries?
They have the battery pack wrapped, I believe it's a prioritized battery because you can charge the batteries through the flashlight.

Congrats on your new light, I just set the voltage calibration and thermal configuration and some molicel or Samsung cells.
