@Vathmee Walakulu Arachchi Well, the mom only apologized for not letting Anastasia choose the vacation spot and let her have more free time. However, the mom (and dad) did not apologize for giving the sister more attention.
The way Damon was acting shady at the hospital and was trying to get away from Anastasia made it clear he was up to something. Also when Anastasia's dad stopped crying immediately the mom said she was sorry was funny.

Anastasia’s mom was a bit of a jerk for not listening to her eldest daughter and not caring about her needs and accuse her of being selfish when really, she and her husband only listened to Eleanor and neglected Anastasia for so long.

The dad probably got upset that the mom called Anastasia selfish for just wanting the vacation to be her choices and not all Eleanor's for once. He was probably even starting to realize that they might be spoiling their younger daughter too much.
