Installing an AFTERMARKET RADIO in a 2001-2007 Corolla!

  • So... car radios get old, and when they do, you need a new one. The logical route would be to buy a new one and put in in yourself, of course!! That's exactly what I'm doing today: Putting an aftermarket Kenwood DPX502BT in a 2006 Toyota Corolla. While there were certainly a lot of hurdles to overcome, we got it done and it is AWESOME!! I hope you guys learn something about how you can do this on your own car and enjoy!!! I apologize that this isn't a perfect how-to; it was one of my first vids and I have since massively improved my quality.

    You have to take the entire dash off because that is the security for radio not to be stolen. Late 90s early 2000s radios got stolen a lot from cars, and so they made it harder to take them out, and more involved.

  • @MrGparrish
    @MrGparrish Před 5 lety +9

    Good try. I have a 2007 Corolla that I want to do this to, but this video is mainly a before and after. Suggest fast camera cuts and getting to the point quicker. Taking apart the dash is what I really need. Keep at it. You have the right idea - just need more polish. You got this!

    I put this same stereo in my 2006 Chevy Malibu a week ago but mine doesnt have the CD player or remote, both of which I didn't need or want. It was my first time installing a stereo and it went pretty smoothly. I watched a lot of CZcams videos which helped😆 I love it. Major upgrade from the factory stereo and I wonder why I waited so long to replace it🤔

    I installed this same receiver in my wife’s Nissan Xterra. Everything seems to be functional, however the lights are extremely dim. I’ve already adjusted the dimming adjust all the way up, but you still can’t see the lights during the day. Only at night. Any suggestions on what to do?

    • @stephaniepynes
      @stephaniepynes Před 4 lety +1

      yes Mr. Helms... I have the same stereo.. when I get off work I will write down the steps to fix your problem..I had the same thing happen and lucked up and figured it out. I got u on this... in case you don't hear from me today, comment so I will get a reminder please... it literally takes 5 seconds to do.. I just can't remember the exact button this minute.

    • @stephaniepynes
      @stephaniepynes Před 4 lety +1

      ps, it has nothing to do with the dimming thing..it has to do with an exterior button if memory serves me.

    • @stephaniepynes
      @stephaniepynes Před 4 lety +1

      To the right of the manual tuner theres a button says "disp" push it one time n wait 1 sec. The display will stay or should stay on permanently.. click it again and the only time u see the display is at night. Ok... another thing you can try is.. press the SRC BUTTON FAR LEFT TIL U SEE "AUX" and stop.. then press your tuner button once and you'll see "function" and stop. While on the function screen turn the knob to the right or left til you see "display function" and stop. While now on the display function screen, press the manual tuner knob one time and stop. Now you are on a screen that probably says "color select" or "brightness".. well turn the knob until you see 'dimmer' and stop. Push the manual tuner knob one time and now you're on the "dimmer off/on" screen.. select off and STOP!!. DO NOT PUSH THE TUNER BUTTON AGAIN OR IT WILL NOT REMEMBER WHAT YOU DID AND YOU HAVE TO START OVER. Instead, right up under the word "Pandora" on the left of the tuner button is a "Back button/search button" push it until it backs you to the main screen which should say "Aux". You should have your dimmer issue fixed.

    • @DartBProductions
