It's amazing how you find bikes that are cheaper than the tires a lot of us ride on. Love how that makes cycling available for everybody!
Great videos! Love your honesty. I have learned a lot on what to look out for in not only big box bikes but also random bikes I see people riding and used bikes. Thanks!
I showed a friend your videos on the Hyper Hydroform and he bought one! He hasn't road a bicycle since high school, he road my Gt Sensor and after that and your videos is now a happy bike owner! Thanks
Thanks Kev, I bought the Hydra after watching your original video. It's a great foundation to apply mods that make sense to the individual for a customized riding experience.
Welcome back, hope you are doing well all things considered. Great video. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on that crankset you bought.
Great Video! I think your thoughts on the Roadmaster were spot on. I bought one for my wife 15 years ago just to get her into cycling. She only rides its a couple times a year, but that's OK because it was so cheap.
Keep up the great work Kev!
These videos are getting really good. I mean the content and the builds are great but I also mean the production aspects too.
Probably some of my favorite videos on CZcams. I always direct folks to your channel when they wanna spend under $500. Thanks for all the good content!!
I like your list just fine and I’d like to say thank you to you for making such great entertaining videos! I always can’t wait to watch them and I’m happy when I get the notice that a new one is out!
Thanks for watching
Thanks for making these videos. I'm starting to understand the importance of components expected in different price points because of you.
Love the videos, can’t wait to see what you have in store for us this summer.
Man these videos are fun, i can watch them all day
Walmart has the Roadmaster on sale today and I didn't know if I wanted it get it or not. So I immediately thought of your channel, knowing you would have good information about this bike. I went straight from the Walmart website to your channel to review a few of your videos on the Roadmaster. I wonder how many other people are doing this. I liked this video, as usual. You are doing a great service for consumers. Thanks.
Minnie I don’t think there is anybody on CZcams doing a “great service”.
I’ve been waiting for a long time for this vid
Thank you a zillion times for making this video...I'm a newbie biker on a budget and this came right on time!
Thank you Kev for always making great videos, and you have a great day also.
The XR PRO and HYPER HYDRO are the best mountain bikes sold at Walmart by far because of their potential with the hydro having more potential than most can actually realize in 2019. Grasping the idea of the 199 dollar frame price for anyone that understands what it actually is, would have most bike companies dumbfounded. To top it off there is a actual bike attached to it as well. Project HYDRO turned into what had been predicted from one of the forums AND MORE. SLACKERIZER that bike and put a 200mm rear shock on it and that build is the best the internet has ever seen for its price point. I will predict that the build in its current form would have most mountain bikers asking what more do you want. Simply incredible. Kudos KEV for highlighting what is possible on a budget.
Because of this video and your others on the Roadmaster, I ordered one for myself today. I currently have a Schwinn Fremont hybrid bike but it didn’t do so well on unpaved trails. Was going to go for something close to $400 but you made the Roadmaster sound so good that I had to try it. FYI I purchased a saddle as well.
Thank you! Your videos are enjoyable to watch.
Great video. I have not ridden a bike in many years will be getting one soon. This video helped me learn stuff already.
Great video as always Kev, thank you for your time and effort😀
we need more bikes like the redline zander
Sucks that it’s almost always out of stock
You should make a 2020 version
No we need more bikes like. ANY GOOD BIKE NOT BY SOME CRAPPY BRAND. Buy a Giant, Gt, Diamondback, or Trek if you’re looking for a mtb. If money is an issue then look at used bikes. I got a used 2007 Giant Anthem W for super cheap. It had a fox float rear shock. If it didn’t have a big dent it would be worth 1k with all the upgrades.
@@603.F0Z why are you at this channel then?
Thanks for all the videos. There is alot of good info in these and they are a great help in choosing what bike to purchase. Thanks again.
Awesome review. Love seeing stuff like this. Just got back into cycling. Thank you so much for your help
Welcome back, KevCentral. We sure missed you but I did not expect you to be back soon. 🤟🏻❤️🤟🏻
Thanks.
Glad to see the Cutback mentioned in the "would have, but" category and I fully agree that they should bring it back. (Hopefully with a more appealing paint job lol)
I 'm actually tempted to pick up a Hydroform for myself so I can throw together my own build.
(Edit, did not see that shoutout coming, and I'm glad to see so many names on that list!)
Thank you kev, I bought a XR Pro right after your videos, gonna upgrade it too.
Very impressive! Top 5 That I wouldn't mind hanging on my garage wall especially the X R Pro, And HyperX two stunning builds! After seeing this video I'am truly rethinking my Trek Madone purchase!
I love watching your videos! They are enjoyable and you have a great voice for comentary. Keep the videos coming 😉
Love your videos and all the great content 👍
That Cranbrook bike is a soldier! I had one for twelve years! Only change two inner tubes, never changed tires.
Thanks for this video! I've slowly been getting into riding and your suggested by Seth .. The mountain bike guy channel lol. I've been trying to find a cheap bike to buy and see if I stick with it. This was exactly what I was looking for.
I’m pretty sure this channel belongs to Walmart, genius marketing!
Then they should pay me their marketing salary, because it’s all on my own 😁
Now you gotta do 5 Walmart bikes I’m neutral about!
😂
I just wanted to wright something
Made me crack up.
Or 5 different Walmart bikes he's knows nothing about
The cut back was a great bike!
Just discovered your videos and enjoy them very much, thanks! 😎👍
Glad you are back !! Good video. Good choices :)
Thanks
I bought the Cranbrook (gateway bicycle), and I love it. So basic easy to ride, hadn't ridden in over 30 years. I do ride uphill, only a block at a time the I go lateral to the hill and continue and end up with a 3 miles downhill rush no peddling involved, all brakes. having to work harder has been great for my weight loss. Started at 300+lbs at 5'9", now at 230. in a couple of years I will up grade to the Priority 3 speed cruiser or Priority Classic plus. My goal is to get back down to lbs by the end of 2021.
Thanks for all your hard work and videos.
Love the vids kev. Keep it up :)
Please upload more often. Love your vids
Agreed. Xr Pro should be #2.
I think the others should have been best value - vs best
Upgrade ability .
But thanks Kev for continuing to make great videos to support some great bikes you can get at Walmart
Picked up a Granite Peak for $98 yesterday. Rode it today and was pleasantly surprised. I have experience with the Cranbrook. That's another solid bike especially for the price.
Here's my 1x Hyper Hydroform build so far:
Bike $200
720 mm handlebars (red) $13
Grips $8
Sram 10 speed cassette $20
Sram 2x10 X7 front/X9 rear derailleur $45
Rims $90
10 speed Chain $15
32t Chainring $15 (Decas red)
Hayes hydro brakes $45
Presta 29er tubes (a pair) $12
2.5 mm crank spacers (x3) $7
36t decas chainrings black $20
720 mm handlebars light blue $19
pedals red $15
Parts on hand:
Hollowtech crank $0
Wellgo pedals $0
Total $533 so far
Hyper Hydroform BEAST. FTW
You use 2 handlebars?
No. Started out doing blue bars but they turned out being light (sky) blue (720mm). Decided to go with a red accent and just keep the bars for something else.
Endless riding $priceless... 😂😂😂
My Dad bought me a 26" women's Huffy Alpine three years ago. I wore out all the components during that time specially during quarantine. I've been slowly replacing the worn out components ever since and I've learn how to do basic maintenance. Happy to see others also upgrade their bikes.
I love your vids keep it up :)
Like your videos very much. Been away from bikes and sure miss mine.
Great video and really nice work building up Walmart bikes!!
The AL Comp was a super easy great project for my wife. Sram Eagle NX, all new graphices, new wheels/tires, everything new except the frame! She loves it, and it rides great. Just shy of $1,000 total. All new parts, nothing recycled or used.
Have a 2019 Granite Peak added a rack, drink cage, and air pump just to be safe. Ride it to work and back every day. I have no plans to get rid of it. It's fun on the beginner bike trail here in town.
I just bought a Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser recently and it's coming in on Wednesday. I'm super excited. I'm even more excited that by chance it seems to be a decent budget bike
Congrats on the new bike.
It's insane how my skateboard it's more expensive than some of those.
Great video mate, appreciate your content
I like your picks. Love my Hydroform. Now I need some cash for upgrades. But I will wait for the next video before I get too involved
Yay Kev is back
Give me the Walmart rims
My husband and I are going to try out casual riding for the first time as adults and I don’t want to make a big investment in case it’s not our thing. We are making a trip to the big box stores tonight, and appreciate your videos to navigate the process, thank so much!
Good luck.
Thanks to your videos I bought a Mongoose XR-Pro. I was lucky to have found someone on eBay selling a like new one and he claimed it was used 2 times and once I picked it up it was flawless and I got it for $250 so I will be upgrading to an air fork, rear air shock, I’ll get carbon fiber seat post, carbon stem and handle bars, upgrading the wheels, pedals and converting to a 1x. Thanks for all the inspiration and confidence in doing it myself by watching your videos and others doing the upgrades on CZcams.
I got a Onex aluminum frame 29 inch beach cruiser a few years back at walmart for $199. I put a 4 stroke motor kit on it . Other than the odd size handle bars , I had to change because standard break levers and grips and other handle bar components won't fit . But goose neck will accept standard bars. And cheap tubes in tires , I have no complaints .
just bought an hydro a few days ago. based on your videos. only rode it around the neighborhood a few times so far. like it
Congrats on the new bike!
Sweet bike! Congrats.
I agree with your list 100% I bpught a roadmaster granit peak for 84. Put about 60 doller s into it. And its a great dualsport bike. I mainly use it on the road. But I'm not afraid to hit some light/medium trails. It made it thru my local 10 miles trail loop with downhills and all. Never even had the chain fall off. And amazing bike for the price. Love the channel!!!! 10/10
OMG I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND YOUR HOW TO DO A WHEELIE ON A HONDA BIKE I HAVE A BMX AND IT TEACHED ME HOW TO DO A WHEELIE ON THE BMX ♠♠♠♠
I just bought the hardtail from Walmart. $499.50. I'm very impressed with the ride. On road or trails, great performance and response. The 29 inch.
Welcome back, KC
+1 on the zander. Best purchase of 2018 for me. Still riding it to 100% to this day.
Sir ! Great vibes ! Great videos ! 😊 can you leave on the description how did you upgrade bike #1 ( the parts you upgrade yourself and the their brands) ? Thank you !
The cranbrook made it, I'm happy. I love cheap cruiser bikes.
I will look for a video of things you upgraded on your bikes. I'm looking to get a mountain bike but I need no flat tires due to the thorns in the desert. So added cost. But man it would be fun ridding around this property and then some. You got me exited to explore options.
I found a huffy carnage 27.5+ on the side of the road....
Because it was free im upgrading it with the spare parts ive got lying around....
@Brandon Ivey lol...
Actually the guy who abandoned it let me have it.. Then i traded the upgraded huffy for a gary fisher tarpoon
@Brandon Ivey 🤣
Just bought the xr pro, will be upgrading to make it smoother & better....good video brother
Almost bought a hydro today while grocery shopping they had it at $99
I myself bought and upgraded a genesis Rtc . I found that once you upgrade the front half and get new tires it actually makes a good bike to learn on thank you for the videos i always look forward to an upload
I just bought the Genesis bike from Walmart. It's the green and black one with dual disc brakes. I'm going to fix her up, little by little
@@jameshendricks875 RCT good choice .
@@jameshendricks875 how do you like it at this point?
I bought a Huffy Parkside SE Cruiser at Wal-mart 2 years ago for $119. I rode it quite a bit for awhile, now not so much, except back and forth from my job which is less than 2 miles away from Home. Yeah, I also had this Fat-Bike that I bought at Target for around $200 back in May of 2016. It was a single speed Triax Fracture. I had Lots of Fun with it for awhile, but 15 months after I bought it,the chain didn't move the tires anymore. Broken drive-train. Wound up giving it to some former co-worker who likes to fix broken bikes. Obviously has extra time on his hands, something I just don't have these days.
That number one bike went through some great upgrades... impressive for sure.
I avoid bikes sold at retail stores like Walmart. I got back into cycling thanks to my partner and White's Bikes of Moreno Valley CA. Their mechanic spent about an hour finding the perfect fit for me. Now I have about a thousand miles on my Haro trail bike. I've been slowly switching out parts and really customizing it. It's an amazing bike that no walmart bike can come anywhere near it's awesomeness. It's the kind of bike that compels you to ride and makes it a dream.
Thanks for commenting
another awesome video
Top 5 I totally agree with your choice👍👍
Great Channel!
I knew the first one would be the hyper hydro form, I like that bike
Schwinn Aluminum Comp. Best one. I really like et.
Okay, so a few Beers later. I have a Kent International Margaritaville Walmart special. I have to say that I seriously love this Tricycle!! Well, after the 25" ape hanger handle bars, and the 23.5" flaming banana seat. Oh yeah and the 42" sissy bar making it all happen. It's a total blast to pedal around any where anytime!!! ;)
I forgot to say this is a great vid Kev.
Thanks 👍🏼
Great video!
Those low slung women's frames are way cooler looking that those triangular standard frames. With flip slammed handlebars they look almost cafe racer-ish, and I love the look.
Thats what I did with my current Ebike.
Nailed it!
Welcome back. Missed you.
Love your videos. Can you do a video about getting a new Walmart bike vs getting a 2nd hand bike? I’d like to know your point of view about this topic.
If you go on Craigslist, and there is a college town at least somewhat near you're residence, that is where you will find MANY Used Bicycles for sale. At least that's the case in my case. Unfortunately, my current vehicle is not fit to drive more than a couple of miles at a time, and the big-time college bicycle town is around 50 miles away from my current residence.
@@robertdecker4780 try kijiji thats where i get all my deals
Defined beats a Walmart bike imo. U can get a barely used Marlin 5 for $250-$300 and a trek will last u a lifetime if u take care of it.
Wow that was a cool video thank you sir😊👍🏻
Thanks for this, brother. I was all set to buy a Cutback a few months ago after seeing your video on it, but when I couldn't find one and went looking for another bike to set my sights on, the Bayside is what I decided on. I love cruisers, and I think a 7-speed might be perfect for the light (but long) hills in my area. Thanks to your nod to it here, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one today. The Aluminum Comp is next on my list, assuming that I enjoy having a bike again as much as I expect to, that is. I'd love to work my way up to being able to bike to work, and the Aluminum Comp seems like it might be perfect for that. Anyway. Thanks for doing what you do, I appreciate it. Best, sir!
Congrats on the new bike! Make sure the fenders aren’t wobbly on your bayside. The newer model baysides in the store were good, but the clearance bayside I purchased has overly wobbly fenders - so bad I may have to remove them.
Damned good video!
The King of Big box bikes for me would be My Genesis RCT by kent, I spent 150 for it, upgraded the front fork, stuck wider handle bars, upgraded the the derailleurs, 2nd place would be my Pacific Evolution, and yes i know Kevcentral had issues with his, but mine runs like a champ, and the mods i did to that bike was just change out the rims, for something more style, Than I have my Hyper Well, i have no complaints, but hey it is what it is, i just bought the bike! and I also have a Huffy cranbrook, but it has a motor so!
I have that Schwinn Al Comp and its lightly modded at the moment with carbon bars, wake stem, SrSuntor forks, and RockBros pedals, as of now amd i love it! Really feels nice to me
That stock raised handle bar was so heavy!
Yes i hated the stock bars with the stock stem lol i bought ebay carbon bars and ebay wake stem and enjoy it much better lol the pedals were a nice upgrade as well. Dont get cheap lock on grips tho. Mine keep slipping and the bolts to tighten them are stripped. Gonna put my factory grips back on
Sweet 👍
Schwinn frames are the best. I own a Pathway and Kempo. They're both aluminum and super light, specially the Pathway. The Pathway is perfect for a roadbike build
Project hydro is awesome. I ride a Giant Trance and just love this content. I started on a mongoose XR250?, then to a Trek 830AL and so on. Making a cheap bike work is amazing. More fun. Won the state championship on a trek 6500 hardtail. I miss that bike so bad. I think vintage bikes should be reviewed on this channel!
I trust your expertise, thank you for sharing
Thanks for the informative video KevCentral. Thanks for the great content! You’ve earned a new subscriber. Which hybrid “Walmart” bike would you recommend? Not looking for the cheapest or most expensive but rather the best value.
I recently pulled a Carbon X out of the trash bin at my storage unit. Both wheels are bent but I can't beat the price. I watched your project X series and got some good ideas for a build up. I am aiming for a light weight Urban performance commuter / cruiser .
The Adventures 700 is my fave Walmart bike. Hard frame so no crap suspension parts to break in three months. 700 c wheels and a comfortable hybrid riding position. True I wish it had trigger shifters instead of twist grip style. But still a great bike for under $200.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the info👍🏼
This vid was very helpful. I can get an entry level bike and upgrade it and then jump ! 😎🇨🇦
Great video Kev I'd like to see the gt aggressor get a few upgrades
Sold it
that project Hydro is super cool, im thinking about getting one.
Thank you so much
Completely agree with your list. Would love to see a review of the Trek Verve 1. I think its a very underrated bike.
This is awesome. You're a pro
Thank you Kev
I agree with your top 5. I think your influence on Walmart bike sales will give Walmart reason to concentrate on making bikes similar in quality to your top 5.
I find these so usefully. I've been wondering about these eBay eurobike s7
