    Be sure to check the video description for links to all the supplies you'll need to instal the urine diverter. Also, be sure to check out our other compost toilet video that's almost at 1,000,000 views: czcams.com/video/_YPO9Elmlsg/video.html

    Thank you, thank you! We have a natures head also and the urine jug is the worst part of having a composting toilet. We didn’t want to drill a hole in the floor or into our grey tank. This seems to be an easy solution! Sent a link to the hubby… another project to do!😝

      Yessss!!! It was just too much pee dumping haha. That smell is 🤢 this is such a simple solution and anyone can do it. Just follow each step in the video and you'll be good to go. It's been 6 months now of using it this way and no problem at all! We included links to all the supplies in the video description. Let us know if you have any questions.

    If they'd manufacture the adapter with an elbow, or you can glue one on, then the low point is eliminated.

    I like this setup and I'm looking to do something similar. Could you share the name of "this little guy" (the black plastic adapter between the urine diverter and the braided nylon hose)? I can't seem to find anything like it on Natures Head's website.

    Hi , Well done I’m going to do what you did wth that pee-wee divert. Do you get any smell coming back up the PVC pipe line when the urine has finished flowing through the hose or is there always water in the line to stop smell from making its way back up through the toilet head?

    So how easy was it to clean the bottom of the top part of toilet after you did this?

  • @carolinefreeebyrdacw13ly

    Great hack. We definaterly want to do the same hack. Could you please give the item name for the little black piece that fits on the pee drain portion of the toilet and hopefully a link to where you acquired it. I looked on Nature Heads website and did not see it there. Thank you so much and safe travels!

    Thanks for sharing. Now I have no regrets in spending $90 on a toilet instead of $1000. I have a conventional toilet and never poop in it. I enjoy going 💩 in the outdoors, otherwise I pee and spritz just like y’all. It goes into the black tank. Which is what you guys now have instead of gray tank because of the urine. Grey tanks can essentially be dumped on the ground in many areas because of the absence of human waste. Black tanks need to be disposed at a dump station. If y’all didn’t plan on moving, I’d consider installing a pee tank.

      We are actually shipping our Airstream to our land in Costa Rica in a couple of months. We will eventually install a flush toilet but will be keeping compost probably for the next 6 - 8 months.

    Without a p- trap, you'd be smelling the grey tank through the toilet, everytime you open the toilet? Easy enough to make up a p trap with a couple of pvc fittings glued together but surely it would be necessary? 😁 (For someone who had a pipe that doesn't have a 'slump' in it, leaving some water behind as a barrier to smells out of the tank, the p trap would be an essential add-on.)

    • @dethmaul
      @dethmaul Před rokem +1

      It looke like it naturally forms a P. Unless the white surface in the video is lower than it looks

    • @AquaTech225
      @AquaTech225 Před 10 měsíci

      @@dethmaulit does, but the trap in a normal toilet is flushed an the only liquid I guess you can say that’s left in the trap is fresh water. So there’s no smell that comes back up.
      Due to the slope that has being lower an no fresh water to go in. The only thing left in that p-trap is pee.
      Though small of a hole that is that’s holding the last that went in before the next use probably isn’t going to really start smelling before the next person goes.
      Even if it didn’t form a trap. Since it’s really going to what was a grey water tank.
      Enough dishes an soap from cleaning going in their also. Probably would be diluted enough it wouldn’t really make much a smell. An dumped frequently enough at the dump stations

    I would be so grateful to know how you empty the toilet composting tank ? do you still have to disconnect everything then remove the toilet and take it out to empty? How is that with the new diverter feature

    • @hopscotchtheglobe
      @hopscotchtheglobe  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey! Yes we still disconnect everything and remove the toilet to clean the poop bucket. But don't have to do anything for the urine anymore. You can watch our other video to see how we dump, clean and prep the toolet here czcams.com/video/_YPO9Elmlsg/video.html

      It looks like it would be worth it only having to fiddle with it for the solids tank every 3-5 weeks or whatever, instead of every day lol

  • @Long-Island-Sound
    @Long-Island-Sound Před 5 měsíci

    Anyone who's interested.
    As soon as you introduce urine into any holding tank you have immediately turned that tank into a BLACK Water holding tank and it would need to be discharged/dumped accordingly.
    Also, the adapter that is shown/used in this video on the toilet for the urine output is no longer available from Natures Head, so go to the plumbing section of your local big box building supply store and use you imaginations

    Or you can get one of the composting toilets that drain to the back. The Nature's Head owner has been told to offer this as an option, but he wasn't interested. Nature's Head is a knock-off of the Airhead. Both made for boats.

  • @Cunningcrow

    Great video....but....haven't you just created a normal toilet in the end? If you have to flush the tube with water anyway, and it is going to a septic tank of sorts with all your greywater, why not use a low-flush toilet? IMO, keeping the urine separate was the point...you could drain that away (under your lemon tree or whatever) and not being wasting water. Even 2 cups of water per toilet visit x 3 people per day is 30+ cups of water (2 gallons) which is 730 gallons a year. Still a lot less than a flushing toilet but still...
    My suggestion would be to use gravity (yay gravity!). Cut a hole in your floor, draw that flexi-hose straight through the floor to a small drainage pit (only has to be 2 x 2 x 2 ft filled with gravel) and then you never think about it, it doesn't smell and you use barely any water (maybe just a couple of squirts of your essential oil-infused water). The latter is what we are doing, so not just speculating! lol 🙂🙌🏼

    You CAN'T put urine into your grey tank, which is where your sink water goes. There's a reason why campers have a black tank. That IS NOT OKAY.

      The alternative is cutting a hole in your flooring, then cutting another hole into your tank under your trailer and risking toxic fumes rising into your RV. I saw a few other people do that and it looks like a headache! So many days of work. This instal only took a few hours and has been working no problem!

  • @jayfro8340

    Why waste that urine? Most places won't care if you drain your urine outside as long as it is only urine. Good fertilizer
