Today on the show I bring you one of the most influential and iconic filmmakers in the history of cinema, three-time Oscar® winner Oliver Stone. Throughout his legendary career, Oliver Stone has served as director, writer, and producer on a variety of films, documentaries, and television movies. His films have been nominated for forty two Oscars® and have won twelve.
I hope this conversation inspires filmmakers and screenwriters to never give up. Oliver struggled for years taking jobs as a production assistant, cab driver, office assistant, and any other gig he could find to help him survive while he was chasing his dream. He wrote and wrote, meeting his goal of one to two screenplays a year, no matter what. Never give up, never surrender.
Enjoy my epic conversation with Oliver Stone.

So awesome you have Oliver Stone on your show!!! What an honor and privilege
Stones work resonated with me far, far, far more than Kubricks. After seeing JFK, I became a film editor. Been working consistently ever since! That (JFK) had a HUGE impact on me in a lot of ways. Everything about that film is great. EVERYTHING!
JFK is one of the great American films. I had seen it countless times, but watched it again last month for the first time in 15 years, and it hasn't diminished one iota. It's timeless imo.
AWESOME! What a treasure, a gem, a mentor Mr. Stone is!
He was the real maverick who came through to us all growing up in the mainstream 80's, amazing that he prevailed and got away with so much.
I never miss his home video commentaries
F*ing great pleasure to see this f*ing great interview. I love this man. This man made part of my life.
Great interview! Oliver Stone is my favorite filmmaker, writer, director!
Great interview, Oliver has done so much stuff with lots of experience
Prime Oliver stone was like no other - jfk, the doors, bofoj, platoon , Wall Street...
The Doors wasn’t good, but Natural Born Killers and Nixon are great.
@@DMalltheway The Doors was one of his best, imho
@@johnta17 Disagree, Val Kilmer was perfectly casted, but Meg Ryan was completely miscasted and the script had issues. Scorsese would’ve done better justice writing/directing it.
Fascinating book. A film director who has really lived a big life, which is reflected in his movies. It's so amazing to live in a time where one can listen and learn from such a master. Thank you for taking the time Oliver to share your experiences, both from your personal life as well as your many years in the film business. It's appreciated by so many.
Agreed!
Great interview with a LEGENDARY FILMMAKER!!
WOW!! AMAZING INTERVIEW!! THANKS ALEX!!
Hi Alex! Great channel man! Congrats! Oliver is one of my favorites.
I would like see you in a chat with Kurt Sutter, Paul Verhoeven, John McTiernan and another genious like that.
This channel is gold!

Hello, I watched your podcast on the other channel and that inspired me to come over to this channel after you mentioned Oliver. I enjoyed this as well. Thank you for all you do! Both you and Oliver
Wow he is such an awesome person. Wow. Def gonna go buy the book. Def love the advice about actors .just bought 2 copies of his book one for me
And one for my son
Good job Alex on scoring this interview. The book is tremendous.
Brilliant
Oliver is an Ace
Wooooowwww
What I have is History. I remember that movie
That’s crazy that nobody wanted to make movies about Wall Street I guess before 08 most
People didn’t care.
So sorry this has been censored by why tee
I don't mind useful technology.
10 movies in 10 years? How is that possible? An everage movie to shoot take...let's say 3 months of shooting. other 9 Monts of marketinging, incluuding cutting.
When is one able to write a new script that can be produced 12 months later?
I admit am bad at math but help me out understanding this. Is Mr. Stone a genious or just somebody who is GENIOUS!?
Also, in most cases, these weren't small-scale films. Platoon, JFK, Nixon, Salvador etc., these things were complex compared to say, the kind of films that Woody Allen used to make each year.
I've been writing for years. I've inquired with a few publishers. Ghost writer wanted $75k
On the bones of his ass but he owned 2 houses and had a few hundred thousand in the bank... yeah right
Housing prices weren’t like they were building that cost millions now only cost a couple thousands in the 70s.
Just discovered your channel and website. Great stuff, love your work. I will be in touch regarding my new film festival, GainesCon.
Welcome aboard!
