I had a 1" thick beautiful glass table for over 10 years and moved several times across long distance (900 miles and 1700 miles) and glass was fine. One morning while having breakfast, I heard a loud noise. It was my beautiful glass table top what exploded without warning. What a mess it made 🤣 and ruined my day. It was unbelievable.
This happened to me too! We just moved into a new house & at 3am we heard glass shattering! I swear I thought it was a spirit! It was one of the side tables in the living room which we just bought 😖
That's terrible! Did the glass launch into any of your other furniture and cause damage or are the edges and force not enough to cause this? I have glass furniture and I'm scared of this happening or causing injury to myself and others or damage to other furniture.
It is 12:30am just was falling asleep and my tv stand bottom shelf just exploded out of no where. Scared the shit out of me, was unexpected. Unbelievable
Glass furniture is a terrible idea. Nobody with the ability to critically think would buy it. Shower doors are different. Not everyone has the choice to have them or not.

I've had a glass desk and glass dining room table for 15 years without any problems. I don't see why furniture would break while house windows and automobile windows don't.

yep, just happened to me, my dining table just exploded, looking for scientific explanation, best i can come up with is the change in temperature? house was cold and i just turned on the heat, dining table is 2 ft from air vent pushing hor air, this is my second winter with this table
Improperly tempered glass has not only imperfections, but internal stress. Some relatively sudden change in temperature can cause the glass to fail and all that stored energy will burst out. I think it's actually caused by pressure building up within the glass along with the cracks inside the glass

i literally moved the glass 2 cm to the left ON CARPET and it blew up
Now im paranoid that my glass desk will shatter on me at random lol

Just happened to me this morning been up the past 4 hours cleaning glass so my toddler can play safely broke $400-$500 worth of computers equipment
