    I can't believe I didn't realize you could use multiple fills, what a great tip! Thanks for explaining things clearly and at a speed people can follow! (I mainly use Photoshop, so some of the more basic things with Illustrator can trip me up since it can differ a lot from PS)

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Před 5 lety +1

      Hiya! Yep, multiple fills are awesome. Here's another video you might like that shows both multiple fills and strokes: czcams.com/video/JY9eCcvoBdw/video.html
      Illustrator is a bit more 'mathematical' than Photoshop so it has a lot of little 'secrets' which, when you learn them, can make it so much easier and exciting to use. Best of luck with your Illustrator learning.

    Hey...thanks for this effect welk this works good...but once it is applied on a black surface gree becomes white..what to do to maintain the same?

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Před 3 lety +1

      Good question. Click on the text object to select it and in the Appearance Panel locate the Opacity setting that controls the entire text object (not just one color), it is the Opacity option at the bottom of the panel. Click it and then choose Isolate Blending. That will isolate the blending effects (the Multiply Blend mode) so it works on the characters only and so the blending effect doesn't extend to blend the characters with the color underneath.
      Hope this helps?

    Amazing video and explanation. Is it possible to create CMYK in a photo? Thanks Helen

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Před 2 lety

      In Photoshop it can be done. It’s typically described as a glitch effect.

    I followed these exact steps, but black is not showing up... am I missing something?

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Před 4 lety

      Am I right in assuming you are seeing the offset colors: yellow, magenta and cyan. And you are seeing red and green and blue? Now, you will only see black in areas where all three pieces of text are - so if all three don't overlap then you won't see any black. Also - some screens are so poorly calibrated that black and navy will show the same color (almost) so it could be a lack of contrast in your screen calibration that is causing this. Look at the dark blue areas and make sure they aren't really, in some places, black.

    do you know how to do this on the iOS app phonto? like what opacity (from .01->1.0) to set each layer to?

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Před 5 lety

      Sophie, I suggest you try 0.5 and see how that goes.

    • @sophiemiller7838

      Helen Bradley do you mean set each layer to .5? which color goes on top? is it (255,0,0) (0,255,0) and (0,0,255)? sorry for so many question

  • @TXTUnz

    Amazing Helen! Great video. Is it possible to have the same effect but with the combined layers equaling white instead of black? THANKS :)

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Před 3 lety

      Great question Ash. I just checked it out and I can't see a way of doing that and keeping it as a live text effect unfortunately. If I do find one I'll let you know. Cheers, Helen

      @@HelenBradley I think, i will just manually draw the white over top. Off to figure out how to do that now.

  • @Littleart08
    @Littleart08 Před 3 lety +1

    Can you do that in InDesign

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Před 3 lety

      I am not sure. You can probably copy and paste your Illustrator file into InDesign if that helps?
