Malayalam cinema suffers from budget issues. Directors are making films with their own money. The community has adapted with this scarcity of funds into making the most out of it. That's why their stories aren't grand but focuses more on the human condition. Mass cinema is not their thing. Lack of dubbing is not superiority complex. But definitely budgetary issue.
I thought Badal was not fully into the podcast. Like how Anmol, PJ or Surajkumar were. Those conversations were completely free flowing. Here I personally felt a disconnect. But thanks Shan for getting him to the podcast. I really like the episodes where you get fellow reviewers because it’s interesting to see different perspectives from the review community
I think Badal, PJ, Abhi, Desi Nerd, Super Super are good with Super hero and Anime but their understanding of Indian Cinema and old movies are not that great, only Aziz and Suraj are two CZcamsrs along with Shan who have a good understanding of Indian cinema with whom in depth analysis can be done.
Only Person whom you can say has a knowledge of everything whether it is Indian Cinema, Hollywood Cinema, Anime, Comics, Superhero Genre Or TV series seems to be Mohit and Aziz, Suraj is very good with Indian Cinema, Badal is very good with Anime but struggles other than that and PJ is Ok but his storytelling is very good, Super Super and Desi Nerd have expertise only in Superhero and Comics beyond that they have no understanding.

The biggest problem with the lack of Malayalam films is there distribution 😅 Most Malayalam films even now decides their movie release date just a month or even less than a month unlike the practices in other industries whether it's Bollywood, Tollywood or Kollywood which announces their big film release even a year earlier, hence it makes it very difficult for them Malayalam films to get distributor's outside of Kerala. It's not that they look down on Hindi speaking audience after all who doesn't want more money and exposure for their film😅
