  • Logging and skidding timber at my 50 acre wood lot in Western Washington. I am working on cleaning up my property to continue replanting this spring. This is the last 5 acre section I need to recover the blown down timber from before I brush it out and plant new seedlings this spring

Maybe someday I’ll bring you some rock to process!
Gold always get people going especially when you can see it who without a macro lens or a hand lens.
Keep your logs clean for the old man hopefully you understand what he’s telling you.
Even if you want to keep half the log clean.
Blades aren’t cheap you should buy him a 10 pack if he’s going to cut wood for you and then you’ll figure out what a dirty log is!
A dirty log you run the blade 20 minutes it’s so screwed up you can’t sharpen it specially if you take the temper out of it by running to two more minutes.
Love your channels and the honesty and learning together .
    Awesome lifestyle!

Yes, make sure you have a clear path chosen to step out of harm's way when the tree cracks to fall , the birds mouth cut decides the direction of the fall and must be cut correctly, always stay away from a tree that snaps to early before the fall cut is made, it's now under mega tons of pressure & if you try to finish the cut, the tree will kick out & roll onto you. Safety all the way 🌝⛑

Just "saw" your link from MBMMllc from your history video. Didn't know you did forestry. You should tell the mining viewers about your forestry more. Recovering usable wood and recovering usable ore should be in the same interest group.
As well as the safety tips. Widow maker trees are probably more dangerous than hanging walls.

Watching this and looking at your possible excape surroundings, maybe the camera doesn't show but I don't see a good excape place if there would be a need to get the hell out of there in a hurry like branch falling, just an observation, I just came on to your video and I'll hang around for awhile, I'm subscribed to several wood related channels.

Love your videos on rock just found the logging…
This is what I do professionally at a mill in the log yard as a buckerman. Out of curiosity, why 32’ and not 33’? allowing trim?
Are you giving space for the mill to buck to allowable standards?
Or am I just taking you too literally? My biggest peave is short log loads cut shy 16’4” and then no room to allow for end checks!! I love a foot to play with so I can still make valuable lumber/timber after I buck and deck.
So good to see you working with Dan and others. 🇨🇦/🇺🇸 We really do enjoy your content.
    Thanks
    John

That Humboldt didn’t save you anything for footage, it in fact cost you. A conventional cut would’ve been 2’ lower.

    • @HubertofLiege
      @HubertofLiege Před rokem

A conventional cut causes the top to hit first, and hit harder than the Humboldt. Humboldt often breaks less wood because the tree lands flatter.
