Nice selection, but Richton is too big for Batman... Superman maybe... He seems to pull off the nice shy guy well enough and switch to the tough persona. Besides, that is Clark Kent's look, a big bumbling humble guy, and then a Tough invisible looking Super hero.

Very loosely based on an SOE operation called 'Operation Postman' in WWII and the subsequent ops. The participants then became 'The Small Scale Raiding Force' which started off with raids against the German occupying forces in the channel islands. They then set up operations in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, raiding Crete and the other German occupied islands, incidentally becoming forerunners of the SBS.
The most memorable of the members in that force was Anders Lassen VC, MC with 2 bars (meaning he actually got 3 MC's), from Denmark (he actually did use a bow and arrow on a few missions during WWII). Lassen was killed on 8th April 1945 in an action at Lake Commachio, Italy, literally a month before the war ended with the rank of Major.
The person portrayed by Henry Cavill was Gustavus 'Gus' March-Phillipps, original commander of the 'Operation Postman' mission and subsequently commander of SSRF until his death in 1942.
Unfortunately I'm expecting a lot of inaccuracies and some 'liberty taking' in this film.

Dang, looks like a fun watch. Trailer has got me hyped for Henry’s character especially. Majority of Cavil’s previous characters that he’s portrayed have always been cool, calm and collected. Excited to see his range in playing a character that is more unhinged and unpredictable.

Currently reading Surpise, Kill, Vanish by Annie Jacobsen. Great book on how assassinations and covert warfare became a key concept in geopolitics. Glad to see a movie on how the CIA, MACV SOG, and other clandestine units were born in utilized from WW2 to now.

Translation: "1% truth, 99% fiction".
If they fit all the shit these guys got up to during that first mission in this then this is going to be one hell of a movie. Spoiler: not all of them make it. A bunch of speed freak sociopaths given carte blanche by Churchill to be the baddest bastards around. Good stuff.
To be fair, the whole story of the SOE reads like fiction. A caravan designer and a military attaché spending time in a public swimming pool building magnetic mines out of kitchen implements and aniseed balls is one hell of a start to a team of... special individuals.
Now that looks like a film worth watching. Also Henry is just being a Cadian Guardsman and loving it lol

Try Anders Lassen. Lassen was deadly with any weapon and actually recommended using bows because they were almost silent and deadly in the hands of a skilled archer. Anders Lassen was a real WWII legend, not a fictional character.

You mean the British armed forces, who pulled troops from literally around the globe? Or the real SOE, who recruited dozens of women for their operations, who did some amazing things during the war?

No British-ruled Asians fought in Europe, and sending an African on a spy mission against Germany in all-white 1940s Europe would not have been particularly clandestine. And yes women worked in secret missions but never as members of armed commando troops.
