I always thought "in the dark" was "him and I" as in the monster the devil, Jesus. _ it's so odd when you see the title of the song and the lyrics that you've known forever.
There was a time, late 70s early 80s, when this kind of medium hard rock was all over the radio. Loverboy, Aldo Nova, Saga, Red Ryder, Sammy Hagar (pre-VH), etc. Not many bands making this kind of basic hard rock anymore, everything is split into so many sub-genres now.

After reading the comments I guess I'm the only one here that pulled it up to listen to because I just came out of a relationship that I thought/hoped was the real deal but it wasn't. Yeah, I cried all 4 times i listened to it. I admit it.
This was sooo nice to have and to learn, I also have a soft spot, but hard edge for Billy's early work front the album Tale of The Tape ; "Young Girls" which was so excellent on the Live in the Dark album. May long live Billy Squire, RIP Bobby Chouinard and Jeff Golub, respectively, 🤘!!

What a sad ordeal it was when Billy committed career suicide with the "Rock me Tonight" video. I sometimes wonder how big Billy would have got. If not for that dreadful video. I love all of his music. The man wrote some killer tunes. Would love for him to do a tour. I would love to see him.

I actually saw him in concert in the early 80's and really enjoyed it, but I had to leave early because someone sitting directly behind me ended up throwing up all over my back (thank God he didn't get any on my hair) and I was wearing a white velour sweater over a blue turtleneck. With the help of my husband and friends, they were able to get the sweater off and we just left it there and left the concert as I was pretty upset! Good times, lol!!!!
