    I think that the thing for Dennis's fantasy is that there definitely IS an element of control that can be abused if you're the sick/injured one everyone has to wait on hand and foot, or else you seem like a "bad person". There are a lot of people who are with verbally, emotionally, or even physically abusive partners and they feel like they can't leave them because the other person "needs them".

    Dennis wasn't just injured by the gunman He was killed and didn't die, He came back stronger than ever, That's some god shit.
    In the end he did outsmart the gunmen for thinking he could be killed.

    Sad knowing that Charlie’s fantasy would never happen. He finally slept with the waitress, only to forget he was supposed to impregnate her and she wanted a better apartment. Which isn’t a bad request considering there’s only one bathroom in the building, and it’s filled with crackheads and psychopaths.
    Charlie didn’t want to compromise his lifestyle so he abandoned the waitress who’s he’s longed for decades.

    • @waterwaveybaby
      @waterwaveybaby  Před rokem +9

      Yeah that’s so true, I like to see it as Charlie got what he wanted, but because it didn’t play out exactly how it was in his head, he didn’t like it and did a complete 180

    • @masterzombie161
      @masterzombie161 Před rokem +7

      @@waterwaveybaby because in the end he didn’t love the waitress, to him she was a distraction, a routine to get away from the fact his whole life has been miserable, so he sticks with eating catfood, bash rats, and play Nightcrawlers with Frank, and the only person he got involved romantically is a Bird who everyone in the gang hates.
      I still remember the episode “flowers for Charlie” and the moment the waitress started talking to him he immediately tunes out because he isn’t interested in anything she has to say.
      Sucks that season 15 did absolutely nothing with that, Charlie didn’t even get to see the waitress there so they can talk about what happened and focused on the Shelly plotline which I really didn’t like. Season 15 was a let down.

      That's how desire and fantasy work at the end of the day. They can only be experienced from a distance, the moment you get too close the fantasy dissolves. It's like in Mac day, when Mac is too much of a coward to jump off the bridge. Right there in front of him he has the chance to massively satisfy his fantasy of being seen as badass by his friends, but all he does is freeze up lol.

    A lot of people with god complex's tend to have issues with their own mortality though, also in Dennis's fantasy he survives a bullet to the brain if that's not the ability of a god I don't know what is. lol My take is Dennis starts out wanting to be the smartest and most powerful person in the room by diffusing the situation, which would certainly do so in the eyes of the rest of the gang if he could pull something like that off. Only to immediately be hit by the stakes of the situation which causes him to need a different fantasy of being in control of death. Remember Dennis isn't stupid he seems to understand guns are dangerous he just also needs to keep taking things up to higher and higher levels. In summation Dennis has two fantasies, the second being his way of calming himself down after going thru the trauma of his own mortality. In a way this makes Dennis killing the nurse much more darker because he is forcing death on to someone that was once unobtainable to him. Cathartically giving himself power over death and this woman.

    One of my favourite episodes is the escale room episode cuz its just Dennis and Frank one uping each other and the whole gum power play thing lives rent free in my head also it shows everyones worst traits Dennis' manipulation, Macs craving for admiration, Charles stupidity and Franks pettiness

    Nah, Dennis gets a shot to the brain and doesn't die from it. That's god like. Then his ideal woman rehabilitates him, until he had to put her down as she lost her attraction. He saw his god likeness, then a perfect easy rehab. Then his lunatic desire for taking someone's life life

    I always found this episode hilarious, and it clearly shows the exact terrible points that make their personalities.
    -Mac thinks he's crazy badass and goes to heaven with really buff half naked angels and god
    -Dee kills the guys, gets famous and married to Josh Grobin
    -Denis gets shot and nursed up to a Olympic level athlete by his weather girl crush and then kills her when the tables turn
    -Frank steals hotdogs
    -Charlie's is a cartoon fever dream and it turns into Up!

    On the ALWAYS SUNNY podcast, we've heard McElhenney refer to (I think) In & Out as a "hamburger store". Is that a Rob thing or is it a Philly thing? Can any Philadelphia residents weigh in on this?
