Silay is the ultimate nostalgia city. Fell in love on my first visit and had the privilege of having Sir Ramon do the tour for me and my friends.

I love Silay, old and new. Thanks to Ramon Hofilena who entertained us personally when we visited their heritage house. We loved how he explained to us not only about the house but also the valuable contents of the house. Thank you Ramon!

This is the Silay of the hecienderos: balls, soirees and so forth. What about the Silay of the ordinary Silay folks, those who qctually worked in the sugar fields? Was it as rosy and romantic as these folks make it out to be? Or didbthey have a different Silay?

The murder of our beaitiful plaza in the name of "Imeldification" is a cultural crime we Silaynons must never forget.

    Buenas Diaz Silaynon.
I am not born and living in Negros but i descended of grandfather on motherside who was born in Negros and who come to Mindanao in the early years of this century and die here. So i lost part of family history.
Can you please, write where from Europe descended the prominent Silaynon. And who were the native stocks there living before the arrival of the Silaynon.
By the way my grandparents were of the Escalante and Calsis or Chalcis stocks.

Silay City is known to be a Kuripot in Food Preparation to serve for visitors. Its proven when we spend fiesta w/ my gf before on 2005. It happened that my gf nurse w/ her Collegues & fellow nurses vontarily give a free dosage of vaccines & injections to those children for free. At that time, the Vaccines starts at 8am & finished at 12:30 noon. At last Vaccine mission was completed, were expecting for the extravagant banquet of fiesta lunch celebration, but what had happened, nobody invites us for fiesta lunch & Nurses w/ decided to go in Balaring for our lunch. As we arrive there in the seafront restaurant of Balaring, Waiters was in a hurry to ask our order menus. At that time, I said to my gf that its my 1st time to experience fiestas in behalf of our Group of Nurses, were sharing our efforts & helping people of Silay giving vaccines for free, in returned nobody give us break for lunch. Its our own money or badget we spend for our lunch there in Balaring. So this is Silay.
