      Also: Introduce your baby to the target temperature in the safety of home first. The advice they gave in this video was very helpful (wet a towel with the water of the place he/she will be going in and let them experience it before putting them in).
      The water should not be too cold however (anything lower than 70°F for more than 30mins) as babies are at risk for hypothermia as a result of their small size and the inability to regulate their body temperature on their own.

    Is it dangerous if the water goes in 2 month old baby’s ear???

    • @SimplyswimUK
      @SimplyswimUK  Před 7 měsíci

      The ear canal is separated by the ear drum into two parts: an “external” section and a “middle” section.
      The ear drum (or tympanic membrane) protects the middle ear. Because it is a barrier, if water gets into the outer ear, it cannot cause a middle ear infection.
      The only exceptions are if your baby has ear tubes or a perforation in the eardrum.
      From personal experience, you should only really take a baby into the swimming pool once they have had all their regular inoculations.

    • @SimplyswimUK
      @SimplyswimUK  Před 7 měsíci

      It's to encourage good toes, which are toes pointing away not up. This gives the legs more flexibility and the ability to move more water. Even if the swimmer is a baby, it's a great idea to start good habits early.

    I don’t understand the need to lay the baby down on a wet mat before you bring them into the pool . How are you supposed to wet the mat safely while holding them. Also couldn’t you just as easily slip on the wet pool deck? I prefer to take my baby in with me down steps holding the railing with my other hand. Less trouble and not likely to result in a baby falling onto a hard surface

      @@redsampler2017 should we maybe wait until they can walk to the pool and fall down, risking to drown? Babies passed 9 months under water, it is something natural for them. They lose it as they grow. So it's never too early to put them to swim.
