  • This is the story of how I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have invasive lobular carcinoma.
Many people have asked if they can help. Here’s a list www.amazon.com... of items that I could really use after chemo and surgery treatments. I have never asked for anyone to buy me anything before so it feels strange to even ask but if you feel compelled to help then here you go. www.amazon.com...
Thank you to everyone who has reached out with messages and prayers. I really appreciate the support and encouragement along the way.
    Love y’all!
    Julie

It is hard to believe that it was almost 12-1/2 yrs ago that I got about the exact same message. Mine tuned out to be stage 4 and In all honesty it was the beginning of a new and fuller and more wonderful life than I could have ever imagined. No lie, hated the chemo and radiation therapy was brutal, but my family was around me and my church family (brand new since I had just moved to another state) as well. We laughed we loved and we grew in our faith, we left the petty things behind and made the most of every precious day. I was so blessed during that time. Trust the Lord, He knows why. Psalm 103 was His word to me through that time. Don’t let this thing steal your hope and joy. “Rejoice. Again I say rejoice.“

I was diagnosed 4 years ago with stage 3 HR +, HER 2-. I am a survivor. You got this! It is a process, but you can get through it. I'll be praying for you. Surround yourself with positive support and work with your doctor to build a care team.
I was diagnosed at Mary Ellen Locher Breast center in Chattanooga and treated at Tennessee Oncology at the same location. Everything was so conveniently located and the care team was amazing.

Praying. As a nurse, I want to say I fully support all patient’s in creating their own treatment plan with research and well reasoned thoughtfulness, just as you are doing. No one should ever feel intimidated, shamed, belittled, or pressured because of the weapons they pick for battle. And, do NOT let anyone tell you your amount of faith will heal or fail to heal you. Often as Christians, our simple encouragements of our faith can make the sick feel like they do not have enough faith because they are still battling. You use your faith to enter the battle and sustain you. It does not flip a magic switch if God thinks you are good enough. How you fight your battle, how you utilize your faith in the battle, and the outcome is between you and your belief system/God - not how “the faithful” judge or preach you through it! Fight like a girl! I pray for your team and for you as you enter the ring!

I am praying for you, and I am with you in spirit. As a nurse I know this feels like a scary, lonely place, but you are not alone. I am so glad you are using holistic pathways as well. For the record, I really like Cancer treatment centers of America, they do a good job on integrative medicine. Breast cancer support groups are good also. Nothing prepares you for this kind of news. The way the world blurs when you hear that you have cancer is an unworldly experience that can't really be explained to those who haven't experienced it. It's isolating, lonely, terrifying, and confusing. This kind of diagnosis provides you with an incredible perspective that instantly brings a vividness to what's most important in life. Cancer is a messenger and I KNOW you'll meet this challenge with courage, grace, fire, and all the mess that comes with doing hard things. I have no doubt that you'll come out the other end with so many gifts. Much love!

I want you to know there is plenty of life after breast cancer. I actually elected to have bilateral mastectomies with reconstruction, I went from a G cup to a C cup and very happy. Oh, Julie. My heart goes out to you. As a ten year breast cancer survivor, your story is all too familiar to me. Your long walk down the hospital corridor gave me chills as I remembered all the emotions I felt as I made my way toward my own biopsy. Please keep us in the loop as we want to be able to support you in every way we possibly can. Prayers are going out for you and your health care providers to help everyone make the best decisions for your well bring. You are strong and will need that strength to push through this challenging period. It DOES get better as you learn more about your diagnosis and experience the steps you must endure to get you through the treatments you choose and out the other side. I had my final radiation treatment the day before Thanksgiving, ten years ago. Every Thanksgiving since then I have been so happy to celebrate another year of my "after cancer" life. I feel in my heart you will have a good many more years to celebrate as well. You've got this, Julie!!!

I swear my breast looked like it had been in a train wreck! Had surgery on June 30. Finished radiation in the middle of Sept. Will be on hormone blockers for five years. I had invasive ductile carcinoma. I am 3 years NED.
I had a double mastectomy, and a second tumor was found in the sentinel node. Chemo would not have benefited me. I did have 30 rounds of radiation and have tips and tricks if you would like. I also developed lymphadema that has migrated from my left arm to my right arm. (I believe it was from using a lymphatic pump).
I suggest getting a 3 ring binder with different colored files for each Dr. and lined paper to write down questions and the drs answers. There will be loads of information given. Take someone with you to all appointments because they will catch things you miss.
You will beat this. Have your breakdowns, but don't stay in that mindset.

It broke my heart to watch this video. I too was diagnosed with breast cancer, the type I had was invasive ductal carcinoma. I had forgotten how intense the biopsies were until I heard you tell your story. I commend you for taking control of you forms of care regarding this diagnosis.
Br prepared for western medical drs to give some push back and not be happy about your choices for holistic care during your traditional care, I had some very rough discussions with my drs over this. The one thing, the most helpful holistic thing that I did was to grow organic broccoli sprouts and consume lots of them during my treatment, I am quite sure that this helped me immensely to reduce the size of the tumors and help to rid of it. Of course the Drs. poo pooed me about it. But I know that it made a big difference for me. Just sharing that with you. Please anyone that reads this I am not telling her what to do, only what really did help me with my situation.. I will hold you in my heart and prayers. Sending you much, love, light and healing energy.♥ You can do this. I am now 3 yrs with no evidence of disease. I was grade 3 when diagnosed, I never got the stage # until I was almost done with treatment many months later. I was stage 3.

Oh Julie, I'm so sorry. Emory is an AMAZING hospital!! You are in one of the best places to be in to have cutting edge technology. The CDC is right down the street. You can park in the valet parking near the children's hospital and walk to the end of the block. Take a card on the parking deck if you park yourself so you will know where to come back to. Since they are an amazing medical school they always have a case study group, if your doctor feels you could benefit from the study it might be worth looking into it. I'm sorry to say I can get to Emory Children's Center 4 different ways from northeast Georgia. Praying for you and your sweet family. 🙏🙏❤️

I’m sorry about your diagnosis . I hate getting older . But as I’ve always been told growing older is a gift . Not everyone gets the opportunity. I take each day as a blessing .
I will be going in for my first mammogram soon and I’m terrified . But I have a history of cancer on my dads side of the family . So I’ve always been pro-active about my breast health.
This was eye opening for sure . Thank you for sharing ! You will whoop this in the ass !

Hi Julie, your vlog just popped up in my feed (funny how God works) ♥️
I was diagnosed with double negative HER2 positive breast cancer (Ductal) August 19th of this year. I had a stereotactic biopsy and then after the devastating news I chose a double mastectomy which I had October 7 (would’ve been September 27th but thanks to a red wasp sting and severe allergic reaction it was postponed). I then had a surgery to start my reconstruction on the 8th of November (my 61st birthday). I started chemo December 7th and do once a week… tomorrow will be my 3rd round. Everything happened so fast my mind couldn’t comprehend it all. I was at the hospital at least 1-2 times a week having all sorts of tests run. Don’t forget you are the captain of your ship and you make the decisions. Sending you many prayers, hugs and love. We Got This💙
